Oh, I love it! It's SOOO much better than where my non-creative mind was going. (Think in terms of "Fiery Melons" )

She set multiple pods last year as a one-year old seedling and again this year, has excellent branching & bud count, great substance, large 7 - 8 inch blooms with intense deep color and that lovely white edge. What's not to love?
plasko20....congratulations! Looks like a nice size and good color I'm always happy to see what came of my seeds.

More is yet to come. One individual seedling from another cross I got from you (and I have been experimenting with) now has 6 scapes! (photo) I saw 4 scapes last weekend, but 2 new ones have just popped out of the foliage. As of right now it has the garden name "The Great E-Scape".
And it is also less than a year old. Buds are still small, however. Probably will not bloom until September.

I LOVE the name! I don't know what it is about my seeds but blooming in their first year seems to be the 'norm'. I expected it to take 2 -3 years in New England. I will be super excited to see what cross this is and what the blooms look like. But WOW.....6 scapes in such a young seedling!

It is probably more common than people notice because they are not there to see evening flowering.
I luckily have this one on my balcony, right next to the kitchen. So I see it often, several times a day, and it was lucky to flower at the weekend when I spend more time out there.
And I have very few daylilies so they all get extra attention, anyway. I doubt I would notice much if I had hundreds and hundreds to deal with.
PS - Thankfully, this flower is still going strong. It is now almost 2.45pm.
