Since Peony Shop is opening this coming Monday, I thought we should start a new thread for 2022.

I did have someone ask about the fees for Peony Shop. Here are the fees from my 2021 order.

Import fee is 10% of the total cost of the peonies. Both were in Euros.

Packing was 3€
Shipping was 27€

I don't know if that shipping fee is based on the number of peonies you order or is a flat fee. I ordered 6 peonies. If someone else had a different shipping amount on their invoice , please let us know.

You pay 1/3 immediately and then the balance is due in early August. I did use PayPal.

Of course the big shopping day is January 1!

You know when I went to look at the 2022 varieties, there was a message that thanks to a tremendous Black Friday Sale, 2021 was a saleout. Did any one know about the Black Friday Sale or do you think it was available to local customers only?

I got an email at the Black Friday sale. I figured you would have to pay to have it shipped and bear all the costs as there was only a group buy/shipping once a year.

Flack Friday at Peony Shop is not for overseas shipment.

I ordered twice from them (last year American orders did not work out) and shipping cost was not bad at all. Besides 10% of the order cost (import duty) there were packing cost (number of roots X 0.50 Euros) plus Shipping cost (36 Euros this year when I ordered 8 roots and 9 Euros in 2018 when I ordered 2 roots).

I had similar fees LG, so I'm not going to order unless I see something amazing.

How about Warmerdam and some of the other European Vendors.

How about PeonyUSA, their roots are grown in Europe.

SoCal, I don't know anything about PeonyUSA. I do know that peony Shop and Warmerdam grow their own roots.

Alex, I didn't order from Warmerdam. I got on their website late, and the ones that were left were available in the US. I think there were others that got an order in 2021, so maybe they can give insights into the fees.

That lovely peony is Henry Bockstoce.

Caroline ordered from them, minimum is 3, but I find no information on shipping cost.
This year I'm focusing on fragrant peonies, same with roses. Nice thing about peonies is that they are not thorny, fragrant roses are usually thorny.

Warmerdam is much more expensive than Peony Shop. Shipping flat cost is 40 Euros, then shipping fee 7.5%, PayPal fee 5.4%. I looked back to shipping cost at Peony Shop, it is 4.5 Euros per root.

My shipping costs were about $65 if I remember right.
My only problem with peony USA was that they came so late. ,but that was not their fault. There was a charge for the photo sanitary certificate too.
Then the exchange on the money too.
This coming season I will try to scout local first.
I left it too late last season.

Thanks Caroline, that's pretty steep for a shipping charge, but I think Gold City charged $30 up to for $100.

I will need to find my invoice if I still have it.
That may ? Include the phyto sanitary certificate too?
Mine had to come from Virginia and there were 12 roots.

I missed out. I had 4 I wanted, but they were already gone when I woke up.

Glad you got some, Anya!

I bought 4, I wasn't going to buy anything, but I bought Pastelegance, while at it, I added Command Performance, Madame Claude de Tain, and PVW, can't spell this name.

SoCal , nice! Sorry, LG, what did you want to buy? I was watching how some varieties were disappearing. Next year, tell me what you want to buy, I can do it for you, it's is more convenient for buying at Peony Shop on this side of the country. I always miss something at Solaris because they open when I am still in bed. Glare

I now have a bit of time to peruse the website closely, this morning while waiting for one rose website I just did a quick ordering. I really like Northern Maiden, maybe I will order that next year.
Salmon Hayes is another one I like, can't see the price because it's sold out.

Anya - you will love Nice Gal - she makes the most wonderful seedlings Hurray!

SoCal - for fragrant peonies you might want to put to a wish list the newly registered Miss Canada (so new that while it has been submitted it has not been entered in to the APS Reg. list Rolling on the floor laughing ). It has an amazing fragrance and lots of side-buds (though some people do not like side buds D'Oh! )

Does anyone that orders from PeonyShop have any problems with a (slightly) different cv being sent? A friend had 30+ pink ones sent instead of the red variety she ordered Thumbs down Do these people sell tissue cultured peonies or are they all grown in dirt and divided for sale? With the volume they sell I worry they are lab cultured plants which by definition do not necessarily match the parent cv. either in colour, growth or habit.
