That's what I do with irrigation "mainline" tubing. I run it from a spigot all the way around the house, with some branches, then leave it in place.
I put a male hose thread fitting on every dead end. I spliced in a Tee with male hose threads fairly near each bed, then run very short lengths of garden hose from the Tees.

Usually when I go from the irrigation mainline to hose threads, I do it with a "Y" that has two shut-off valves. That gives me local control for each zone. (I'm still experimenting with some sprayers, some dripline, and some spot-watering by hand.)
