Hello,

I have a Rex Begonia that I bought at Home Depot last month that I cannot identify. It came with a plant tag with some basic information about the plant, but the variety name was not marked. I have searched on the web to try and find what variety it is but to no avail.

In that regard, can somebody help me identify what variety my Rex Begonia is? I will attach some pictures below of the plant and its leaves. Additionally, for reference, the plant has four-petaled pink flowers with a round yellow stamen in the center. The older leaves are deep green with some silver speckling, while the younger leaves have a marbled variegation of pink, silver, and very dark green.

I hope we can solve this variety mystery!

Thank you,
Nick

first one could be Rex Begonia (Begonia Jurassicโ„ข Pink Splash)
Second one could be King Begonia (Begonia 'Judy Cook')

but these are just guesses from using what images we have in the Begonia database. There are many that look similar.

Hi Calif_Sue,

I have taken a look at your two suggestions, and the Jurassicโ„ข 'Pink Splash' Begonia is an exact match. It looks identical!

Thank you so much for helping to solve my begonia mystery! I really appreciate it.

Nick

Does the tag indicate the grower name? If it was Costa Farms, they have a page for their Rex Begonias here:

Don't rely on their single pic of each kind. Look up the names of the similar ones to compare to a wider variety of pics. Many Rex'es have more pics in the database on this site:

I think it is likely to be Jurassic as well. Did you get it from a Angel Plants or Costa Farms plant though? Like purpleinopp said: if so, definitely check their catalog
