Waterfowl season opened today. When I got back to the car unsuccessful, I was getting in the car when I noticed these on my waders.

It appears to be a plant seed of some kind. It's also mixed with some algae. I'm not sure what it is, though. Any ideas?

The spot that I found these was near Gooding, Idaho, USA.

Looks like one of the plants in the carrot family. Was this a dry area then flooded for the waterfowl migration season?

Yes.

To be exact, there was one point where I had to crouch and go underneath some trees. I almost cut my hand on a really spiky plant. The seeds seemed to come from the spiky plant.

Then again, I'm not sure. I know the seeds came on in a dry area when I was out of the water.

I'm actually heading back to the spot in about an hour for another duck hunting session, so I will see if I can track down the responsible plant and get a picture.

Sticking to socks is a big clue IMHO. Not a lot of seeds do that, when you think of all the seeds out there.
They appear round, I expect carrot seed family to be flat, and not sticky.
Cleavers is a small, fragile and not showy plant. You can easily trample it and never notice. Other parts of cleavers plants may stick to you as well.
Plant it and they will come.

Give me a few minutes. I will get a picture.

By the way, I was unable to track down the plant when I went back yesterday. However, I did get three shots off at a nice male mallard. All three missed, though.

Well, it happens.

I hope so too. I'm really curious what this plant is.
