I'd be very happy to create a Dahlia forum here but I'd first want to know that there is a demand for it. We don't like to have ghost town forums that aren't used much.

So.......who wants a Dahlias forum?

I would participate, but I don't know a lot about them. So mostly I would be begging for info and posting pics. Are there experts out there?

Begging for info and posting pics is pretty much my level, too.
Experts EXIST, but I couldn't tell you where to find them.
ATP is where I go for experts!

I would also be a lurker. I love the look, especially cactus dahlias.

I killed my first two tubers this year (or at least they have not yet come up.)

The experts are on cubits. I saw a lady with 3-12 foot tables full of Dahlias, which she lifts every year religiously. Yikes!! They love to talk Dahlia and if they here about another forum they will come and bring their pictures. I love Dahlias also and I am here to tell you there are not experts on the perennial forum, we learn together, and we learn quite well.

I'm sure there are lots of experts here. You could look through the dahlias in the database and see who contributes most of the photos. Those people are certain to be active in a dahlia forum.

I'd be happy to share pictures and my experience with them but they only bloom for a short time here so I don't know how much I'd have to contribute. We've already had a hard frost here and I just came in from digging the tubers.

Frankrichard 16 had a post about over wintering dahlia's and at one time had 300 tubers so I think he is an expert and might be interested.

Maybe somebody could start a thread about dahlia's and see how much interest there is. Shrug!

Well, I see plenty of the people who post on the perennials forum.

There is a guy named Ronnie who has a lot of cultivars of dahlia and he also has a lot of Morning Glory's. luvsgrtdanes

A lady named greyghost, she just joined in September and happens to be:

robertduval14 has a lot of Dahlia but Robert has a lot of everything!!

I'm not sure how valid of an indication this is, or how long the dahlia badge has been in existence, but there are only five people who own a dahlia badge.
---- Compare that to these:

Amaryllis - 51
Clematis - 61
Daylilies - 202
Heucheras - 48
Iris - 123
Lilies - 85
Plumerias - 55

Rick, they were talking about starting a Dahlia forum here on ATP. There is a great Iris forum and Coneflower forum on Cubits as well as the Dahlia Forum.

Oh here we are... Even a discussion should have pictures..here's what this one is doing now.. Grown crammed in and fighting for space.. Like everything here.. I call it a cage fight garden... Contestants go in and battle for water...food and a place in the sun.. Like a botanical reality show...

I have been watching the dahlia cubit for a couple years now , great information and some serious growers there.

My first attempt was this year, with dahlias gifted by some on the cubit.
