Welcome Tweedle, Things are brand new here and everyone is still finding their way around. As soon as the dust settles, I think you will find a wealth of information. I know; I'm pretty new, myself.

Welcome and howdy! So glad you found us. We'll have lots of questions for you about native bulbs, I'm sure. I was lucky enough to be given a small bag of old native Byzantine glads a couple of yrs ago. I noticed they were up in spite of the deep freeze we just came out of. Hope they bloom again this year.

Howdy neighbors! This should be extra fun!

I love just about all Texas natives and wildflowers! Even some that most people consider invasive weeds are okay with me, especially if they have medicinal value!

Other than that, everything we buy to plant has one prerequisite - it must be edible. the natives pretty much have to show up on their own or......... I can make trades with other gardeners Hurray! hurray!

I was just looking up some botanical names for plants I'm going to talk about for a presentation. One was Maranta arundinacea. The common name is Arrowroot, but there were probably 3 other arrowroot plant references. So much to learn!
There's a great group that holds Round Ups in your area a couple of times a year. It's for trading and swapping plants. I hope to make a couple of these this spring, one in Louisiana.

Hi, I finally found you. I've been wandering around the site looking at all the cubits. What fun. Anxious to get to know all my "neighbors" in East Texas and the Piney Woods better. When spring comes, the questions will follow. I have so much to learn and this is definitely the place to learn it.

Jan Hurray!

Hi all just got here and I'm glad I did. Yep spring isn't that far away thank goodness I don't know about ya'll but I am sick of the rain. It seems like we get one pretty day then more rain I can't get anything done. I did plant about 40 cyprus trees (saplings, bare root) and about the same number assorted native trees. I still have a few more to plant so I hope this weather gives me a break. The rest have root balls so I need some unsoggy ground. When is the Woodlands RU I have never been and would like to this year.

I feel your pain, Ron. Those few warm, pretty days we had spoiled me. I'm haunting the long range wx forecast, looking for warm, dry weather.

Hi beck 5711. I'm a new member so we haven't met yet. Glad to meet you. Right now its just a cold rain falling here. Tomorrow's going to be even colder. At least we're not in the Dallas area. Someone said they were expected to get 10" of snow. I think I'll settle for the cold rain. Do you think spring will ever get here?

Any of y'all enjoying any tried-n-true winter bloomers...the traditional bearers of the message..."Spring is just around the corner!"
the Narcissus, Jonquils, paperwhites, others?
Here's some "King Alfreds"...as a dear friend described as she gave them to me...some years ago...which version it is I don't know...she recalled Dutch Master...doesn't matter tho' cause I like it just the same.
I'm dial up so it takes a few minutes for me to submit photos.

(PS: TxJan...meant to reply hello earlier...been away from the computer for a few days...nice to meet a new nearly-neighbor!)
