Hello, Perhaps you can help me find a 6ft or taller green hedge shrub that can hide a wall preferably narrow in width. If your able to help me find a drought tolerant variety I would greatly appreciate it. This would grow in Southern California.

Clumping bamboo will grow in a narrow band with minimal pruning. There are quite a few varieties/heights to choose from.

Clumping bamboo are gorgeous, grow fast, don't get out of hand and are evergreen. I would choose Black Bamboo or Sunset Bamboo, both with visual interest and easy to get ahold of. If you want something more formal, you could grow a plant as an espalier. There's always ivy or Creeping Fig. Living walls are quite popular now also.

Thanks for the speedy responses porkpal and daisyl! The Clumping bamboo is definitely something different than what I was thinking =) I'm just a little worried the wall will be sparse lower down near the trunk and I'm looking for to cover every inch of this 6ft wall that spans 100 feet!

Also the city code requires it needs to be low water and drought tolerant b/c it is a commercial property
what do you think/have experience with the following:

1. Island Mountain Mahogany (Cercocarpus alnifolius)
2. Arctostaphylos Dr. Hurd
3. Ligustrum japonicum
4. Myrtus communis
