It looks like it is time to look at another sempervivum to verify we have the correct one in our database.
It is S. 'Nico'.

Here is a photo I took today of what I have as 'Nico'. I don't think it is correct.

That looks exactly like mine. Here's my pic from the "pink" thread for comparison. I gotta say... it's not too shabby looking.

What say you, Kevin? I suppose your specimen is lime-green with strong, fiery red tips.

Seems like we had this discussion before because I have already down graded my 'Nico' to Noid? Darned if I can find it the discussion. Think it's lost in the chat thread.

Julia I looked for it also, but could not find a thread devoted to 'Nico'. So I started this one.

Well I'm glad you remember as well, think I'm crazy sometimes. I did get a new one from SMG looks pink now and didn't do summer to will. Kind of crispy.

Well... let's take a look see.

Here's a horrible picture of Kevin's 'Nico' in its native habitat.



And here are two rosettes from Kevin's plant placed next to mine. Kevin's are the two at the bottom. Kevin's have stronger red tips and no (or weaker) watermarks. Suspicious... but inconclusive as far as I can tell. Innocent until proven guilty?

Is Kevin's 'Nico' in full sun? No, I can see they are getting some shade.
I am thinking that mine is not correct.

Tim's Kevin's look more purplish red rather than brownish red...to me, not that this is too significant, but glad you took a couple to grow next to yours to see in the spring if they look the same

OK, here's Kevin's 'Nico' planted next to mine (and Lynn's I think). There's a similar offset planted on the other side. Who here actually believes I'll remember any of this come April?

Looking at the suspected impersonator today, it now seems obvious that the two offsets from Kevin are different from my 'Nico'. But what seems obvious today ain't necessarily so. I will give it some time.

The creeping clump on the left is Kevin's and yours is the big round clump?...they do look similar but clump on left has slightly narrower leaves from what I could discern...

No no no... the two lonely individual offsets are Kevin's. One on the north side and one to the south of the main clump. You have to enlarge the picture to see them. The creeper on the left is the eternally boring 'Amanda'.

Oops, my laptop and eyes are failing me...and don't hesitate to tell us how you really feel about 'Amanda'...
