Well.....Just to add to the mix..here is my Nico in late spring /early summer. It does lose the red in summer and does not get it back till late winter. A good dose of fertilizer in late winter helps with the color too , I find. Lynn and Tim it seems like yours have a lot of blue in the color and has more leaves. The chicks on mine are very close in where yours have longer stolons. Mine looks just like the European pictures Daniel posted. Sorry, I only have the one picture.
Tim...remember the camera I left at Kevins and you sent to me?.....I just bought one exactly the same on ebay with a carrying case and both lens covers. I have been so busy working I have not had much of a chance to really test it out. I have a long list of "to dos" for after the North west flower and garden show.! take more pics is on the list !

I wouldn't be surprised if Jo Ann has the same one that Kevin gave me. I'll have to wait and see. I think Kevin's will turn out much the same as Jo Ann's as it develops. Kevin seems to have some actual reason to believe that his is correct, which escapes me at the moment.
I think Lynn and I have impostors.

Mine came from Fernwood Nursery, Tim, and I expect they have things correctly named.

Speaking of, I just planed a bunch of seed from Nico X Slabber's seedling and the reciprocal plus Fire Glint X Nico. Of this type, I think that Fernwood may be the best.

FWIW.
I'm now 100% certain that the large semp at the back of this picture is not 'Nico'. The small rosette at the front of the picture is 'Nico'. I'm also 99% certain that the larger impostor plant is in fact 'Dallas'. The year round resemblance is obvious, but of course it has to remain in the NOID camp.

Tim if you post pics to a new thread titled something like 'Dallas' you can get our 'valuable' input into whether your plant looks like 'Dallas' for those of us who own it - in this way you can label it correctly if it passes muster...Just a suggestion! @tcstoehr
I tip my hat to you.

Well... now that you suggest it, Greg... I might just do that. Up til now I just sort of figured "once a NOID, always a NOID".
BTW, is that 'Nico' to the left of your 'Thundercloud'?

If it was sold to you as Nico and turns out to be incorrect, it will always be a NOID.

In my opinion if it has specific obvious characteristics which are Identifiable why not name it? Example, I had one that was misID'd when I purchased it "Blush" but then I noticed it looks identical to 'Thunder' I waited for all seasons to see if there were any differences in the plants, there were none, because it really was 'Thunder' I realize reapplying a name to a semp needs to be done carefully but again if there are obvious features than I think it can be appropriate. I did this with 'Fair Lady' as well but both these examples are semps with obvious and unusual characteristics so easier to figure out and feel confident it is correct!
I tip my hat to you.
