I went out and bought tropical houseplants to tide me over until spring!

What kind of house plants did you get, Caroline? I really need to give some attention to the house plants that I already have, especially the African violets.

Two more weeks, then my seed starting begins -- spring will be here before we know it! .

None of them had proper tags, just tropical plants.
I will need to go on line and identify each kind.

I am going to begin seeding some items soon.
I have a packet of geranium seeds for the ones which have chocolate coloured leaves in the sun.

I guess it is that time to start seeds indoors.
It has been years since I have done that but I may try a few items.
The first time was more of a pain in the buttocks that any gain so after a couple of years I said to heck with this, although we now have a much better grow light set-up than then.

I will be starting the geranium seeds under lights.
I am using the T8 flurescent lamps.

I still have the old-style T-12 lights... might need to upgrade one of these days!

Houseplants are:
Peperomia
Waffle plant
Arrowhead plant
Two novelty begonias
Devil's Ivy

I need to find proper Latin names and species.

I have posted pictures of the Peperomias, or rather what I think are peperomias over on the Houseplant forum in hopes that someone can help me identify the them.

I have to get down South and replace the porch Christmas lights with Valentine Red and I probably should take the Christmas Tree down too.

The thread started in January; I don't understand what you're saying there, RpR.

My seed starting has finally begun -- onions, celery, pansies and vinca.

I suppose we could have started this at the Solstice for those on astronomical calender? Or we could have started it on December 1 for those of us who like the meteorlogical seasons.
But none of us thought of it at those times!

Seems like winter to me!

Definitely winter here.
I am waiting for roads to be cleared, so I can go home from my
weekend grandparenting!

While it is a nuisance for driving----I am glad to have all that snow.
It means good moisture for the bulbs, and perennials that lie down there!

What I meant was when I speak of a winter for year x, y or z that winter runs from Dec. to March.

I never imply two. winters a year as I have heard a few people, not here, do which is why I was surprised this thread was created.

Not that this is exactly an earth-shaking issue, at any rate, just that now it's bugging me because I'm obviously missing something here, about why you were surprised about the thread being started.

I do know that I definitely do NOT want more than one winter per year, though!

Well, it definitely will not be winter here for the next 6 days! Highs in the low 60's and mid fifties! Although, there is a big snow system coming on the horizon. I'll enjoy this while it lasts. I still need to do my winter sowing.

Sitting on the deck in my lawn chair, enjoying 71 degrees and sunshine. Would someone confirm it's mid-February in Michigan? This is so unusual.
After roaming the perennial garden, I'm finding a lota bulbs up about 2". I'm happy.
