This thread is to talk about anything that doesn't belong in one of the other threads. Say 'hi' to other members of our seedy family Big Grin , talk about your day, gush about how excited you are about particular seed offerings, etc...

@Maulwurf

Sorry for the confusion, as I was going through my updates and saw your response, I assumed you had posted it to a thread in my Lightning Round swap that was just wrapping up, I didn't realize it was posted here, in the forums for my All Seeds Swap #5. I edited my post/response to your comment as a result.

To further clarify and comment:
You are welcome to join the swap and to take a peek at it, but looking at the seed lists won't help in any way right now because it is far too early for people to have their seed lists going, I would be surprised if anyone has even listed any seeds yet. Smiling The bulk of the seed listings get entered in the week before a seed swap, so we are still quite some time away from that happening.

I hope you won't find this statement conceited, but if you join, I am sure you will have fun! I recommend doing so and seeing what you think of it from a first-hand experience. There are always plenty of seeds spanning a variety of categories, whether you are looking for something as common as carrots or something along the lines of a unique flowering plant native to the southwest US. There is never a promise of any particular type/strain of seed, but there is always something desirable, unless you are coming with only one type of seed in mind.

If you sign up for the swap, you will get a notice before the swap (so that you will remember you are in it) and you can start seeing, at that point, what seeds are being entered.

I hope that helps!

Hi all. It's still pretty quiet around here but I just joined this swap today. I'm pretty sure it's my first time in this particular swap, although I've been in others here. I've already started collecting seeds, so figure I better join a swap to share them. Green Grin!

See ya soon...

Welcome, Christine! We're glad to have you!

I'm in the middle of seed planting here up north (some are a little on the late side, but we had a late start to spring) and all of this seed planting always makes me think about the seed swaps and gets me thinking about what seeds I hope to harvest for the fall. Smiling I hope your growing season is going well--already in full swing, no doubt!--and that you are able to harvest a bunch of seeds this year. I have a feeling that this fall's swap is going to be our biggest yet, but we'll see. ;)

Hi all, I'm new here and to the swap idea... I'm in Southeastern PA. I grow tomatoes & peppers more than anything & will have some pepper seeds harvesred from my own peppers. Rockpile1369 told me about this place, so I'm looking forward to figuring this swap thing out.

Welcome, Hammer!

Please feel free to partake in the chats and ask any questions you might have! I am always happy to help and we have a lot of other people here, too, that have done this before and would be happy to help you if you run into any stumbling blocks.

And remember to collect seeds wherever you can. You might be surprised at what would interest other seed-aholics in here. Big Grin

Y'aaaaalllll Burpee is having a "5 for $15" all seed packet sale and while that doesn't initially seem SUPER impressive ... Seed COLLECTIONS count as ONE packet. So, a collection with 4 packs of seeds for $18 x 5 = $15 plus tax and flat rate shipping for twenty packs of seeds in that example.

Plus good time to grab some of those more expensive $7-10 packs.

There's also a lot of discounted seed packs for $2.50-$3 or so, brings them down to a price point you don't want to use the 5/15 deal.

I'm loopy but now I'm extremely excited for swap this year, I'm ready! I've been too sick to save seeds from the garden but I have been collecting sundew and iochroma seeds. We'll see how that works out! Exciting!

P.S. hi love y'all! Group hug

Anyone know if any other seed companies usually have a fall/winter sale? I missed any possible labor day sales as I was otherwise occupied, but wondering if, say, Baker's Creek ever has sales, or Outside Pride or Chiltern. I feel like maybe at least Outside Pride did and I missed it...

Also I didn't know about plant-world-seeds.com's SEEDS10 code for ten percent off, doh! I bought myself some rare seeds there the other day to start indoors soon.

Just got this email from Baker's Creek:

"ORDER NOW TO SUPPORT RELIEF EFFORTS IN INDONESIA
All proceeds from seed sales today (October 8th) through tomorrow (October 9th) will be donated to support relief efforts in Indonesia.

Baker Creek Heirloom Seed Company may be half a world away from Indonesia, but we are deeply concerned for our brothers and sisters dealing with the devastation caused by the recent earthquake and tsunami there. Our hearts go out to those who have lost everything except their lives, and to the families of those who lost loved ones.

Survivors of this disaster are in dire need of food, water and medicine. We want to help, and we are asking for your help.

In an effort to get that immediate aid to those who need it, Baker Creek is donating 100 percent of seed sales to benefit relief efforts for a limited time.

All sales proceeds from orders placed Monday, October 8 through midnight Tuesday, October 9, will be donated to the relief agencies World Help and ADRA."

Thank you... Right now, I only will be able to offer up a few limited varieties, just lost of each... Hope that is ok...

Not-so-pro tip: listening to familiar music while absent-mindedly packing up seeds results in some very odd labeling. Maybe I should stick to classical. D'Oh!

We have so many seeds to go around, @hammerojustice! You'll have more next year after planting the ones you get this year! This is a great way to get your seed library started. Lovey dubby

That is absolutely okay! Many of our members started out with just a few varieties and increased in future swaps.
