Yea Hurray! It's finally hear :hurray:
I'm ready for days to start getting longer. I'm tired of these short days.

Oh ! Karen, I'm curious, 🤔??? What are you going to wintersow ?
I though Ohio would be frozen this time of year. I could be wrong. Shrug!

Karen, I am with you on the winter sowing.
Going to do rock garden candidates and a few perennials.

Did indoor sowing yesterday : Pelargonium type Geraniums.
Ivy geraniums
a Mix
Scarlet Picotee
Salmon with narrow petals

I already have plants and cuttings on the go.
My containers in 2018 will be mainly bedding plant type Geraniums.

Philip, that's the point of wintersowing: you sow the seeds in covered, vented containers, put them out in the cold, and in the spring they germinate when conditions are right.

I won't be wintersowing this year. I've done it for so many years, I've no space left to plant! Not to mention, I have way to much to maintain now. But I always think about it on the solstice.

Happy New Year, everyone.

After several years of no perennial WS, I sowed 2 containers yesterday.
One is for Rudbeckia fulgida to replace the plant I killed last year.
This Rudbeckia is daintier than its hybridized child, Rudbeckia 'Goldsturm'.

Another container is for perennial Geranium whose species I don't recall. It is a very small geranium with small leaves and small flowers. What I like most about this little one is that it blooms when other geraniums in my garden take a rest.

Garden hoops update: I did not place a second layer of cover over the hoops before going away. After two months, I found the ground under the hoop completely dry and the kale and Chinese broccoli lying flat on the ground. The lettuce is completely frozen.

I wonder how I can keep the ground moist to keep the vegetables going. Anybody has any suggestions?

Mone, you sent me some Goldsturm years ago. Some of it has died out but I still had a fair amount of it last summer.

I haven't WSown anything in a couple of years as my garden beds are full as can be. But this winter has been so severe, I might have some losses.

Hi Karen,

My garden is completely stuffed too. I just let the plants fight with each other for space and let the toughest win. 😁😃

Then I insert something new in any bare spot as usual.
