I guess it at last is officially winter has felt like winter here for a long time. Still, we need exercise in the winter probably more than in the summer months.

I did my exercise. Lily and I walked for 5 miles even though it was slightly chilly out. Bundled ourselves up and off we went. Took us 3 hours. Just got back inside and I am really beat from that long walk.

Thanks for the new thread Ann, enjoy your Vancouver visit with the family.

I did 90 minutes of exercise yesterday, today is laundry day, changed the bed so lots of exercise up and down stairs. Have felt it easier going up and down the stairs since I started my exercise, really makes a difference.

We walked a good 4 km today down to the bank and Shoppers Drug Mart and then way up the drive for lunch . Back to a coffee shop for coffee and a shared sticky cinnamon bun, killing time while the cleaners at my daughter's house were late. Grandpa as headed off to school to meet the kids and let them slide a bit on the hill next to the school before coming home. I'm going to wrap a few gifts.

Walked way up the Drive today to have coffee with Ottawa friends who are also here. 1.7km each way. Then later, we had lunch with Vancouver friends. We walked back rather than driving with them because we were on a hunt for pearl onions which seem to be hard to find out here this year. Found them at a small market on the way back. Probably covered 5 km in total.

Also got more walking last night as we walked to and from the school for a seasonal sing-a-long.

I don't think I'll be getting much exercise this week. With our son home we'll be sitting around eating and drinking most of the time. Sad We don't see him often because he lives so far away, so we try to enjoy him while he's here. Also, our gym is closed Christmas Eve and Christmas day. We have a treadmill but it's in my son's old room. He'll be asleep a lot of the hours when I am awake, like now. It takes him days to readjust his sleeping patterns from Pacific to Eastern time zones. By the time he adjusts some, it's time for him to fly back home.

Not good weather for walking outside, either. It's raining and foggy and nasty with temps in the 30s. It's supposed to get much colder with a chance of a snow shower on Christmas eve.

I'll probably gain 5 lbs. this week!

Karen, don't worry about the exercise and a little weight gain while your son is visiting, just enjoy the time together. I am sure you will get back on track after Christmas.

Out to the park. Granddaughter was most interested in the very icy surface of the tennis courts. After her Dad arrived, we stopped standing around in the cold and walked down to the grocery store for a few items. It's cold here, but nice and sunny.

That's cold? I don't consider it really cold until it gets below 0 F. But it WAS chilly walking around the VanDusen Gardens Festival of Light tonight with two kids.

Beautiful photos Margaret and Ann.

I consider 18° F way too cold to be outside.
