I'm very fond of Rosemary 'Arp.' In the thin soil of my' herb bed' it survived a few years until we had an unseasonably dry and warm fall. Then it perished. It will be replaced with something more tolerant of very dry, light soil. A cactus or an artemesia, perhaps. The one planted in heavy clay, also greatly weakened by the drought, perked up with more recent moisture and is doing well.
Here in the mountains of AZ it rosemary has a tough time if it is forced to grow more than three months without water. Otherwise, it is a lovely and durable plant. Bees love the pale blue flowers in late spring, and they look good against the dark foliage. And the foliage does give off the lovely classic culinary rosemary odor when crushed.
