I like fancy edges. I lean towards bubbles, chicken fat and ruffles, but even teeth are growing on me. Many times the edges on the hybridizers pictures do not reflect what develops in someones actual garden, but below are a few that look good to me in my climate. Do you have any with the fancy edges that you really like? I would love to see them............Maryl

Even though these would never work in my garden, too hilly and windy. I can still appreciate a beautiful flower. And those are.

I have got to ask? Confused What does being hilly and windy have to do with not growing those daylilies? I feel sure Oklahoma is very windy, don't know about any hills being there.

The substance, that makes these so appealing, would leave them flat on their faces out here. Really.

Larry is right about our winds. It's considered our usual spring breeze today with only 30mph winds, and of course we have those pesky tornadoes to deal with later on (and yesterday we had an earthquake. Oklahoma isn't for the meek). I have no doubt however that Tina knows how strong her winds are, and she has my sympathy if she likes edges but feels she can't grow them.........I'm still hoping that others will share their edges here so we can all be enabled.........Maryl

There is a song named "Oklahoma Hills" I do remember parts of it.

I lived in Kansas for several years, I know that kind of wind, and have seen a tornado or two. Also been thru a few hurricanes down south, Camille for instance. But, I'm not talking about just surviving some place. I'm all about the ones that thrive "here", in our little wind tunnel valley. Small blooms work best. I'm 58, and if there is any lesson that I've finally learned, it's to love what you can have. But I still love the edges and ruffles. Thanks for sharing the pictures.

I too love "bubbles, chicken fat and ruffles, but even teeth" on daylilies. It is so exciting to see edges on daylilies as they truly add another dimension to the daylilies. (Pattern is another great appeal) Here are some of my favorite edged daylilies.

The only thing I can find looking through my photos with a very bold edge is a Mark Sattelmeier seedling.

Larry: That is a great seedling. My favorite color too - yellow. I hope it does well for you on the rust front..........Mike: I like daylilies in general, but when I see those edges it does something to my toes - they begin to tingle. What beauties yours are...... Thank you both for posting.............Maryl

I'm drooling Drooling Drooling Drooling over all of these. Will post mine when I get a minute. I LOVE the edgy chicken fat and ruffles but didn't find out about them until a few years ago D'Oh! D'Oh! I have definitely change that in my garden and more coming in Spring Hurray! Hurray!

I have been looking through my photos today, as well, looking for edgy ones. The edgiest I have found so far is Here Lies Butch.

I love edges and have a few, but lost my photos when the computer went down. I remember Dixie Sunrise bloomed last year for the first time and was very edgy. I am so enjoying photos here though

Valerie: I love the color lined edge on Here Lies Butch. Up north, from what I understand, it's hard to get some of those really oversized ruffled southern edges, but that is a very nice one.......Ginny: Bella Note, Crown of Creation, and Mystic Image are just wonderful. Last year was my first year for Priceless. For a first year plant it did very well. I grow many in pots that are overwintered outside and this year, with our unusually bad winter, I lost it. However, I liked it so much that I have ordered it again and next winter will protect it even more until it gets fully established.......Alilyfan: You would have to mention Dixie Sunrise. I'm past my limit for new plants this year, but I keep teetering for just one more - and that is Dixie Sunrise. Can I resist?............Maryl

Priceless was a first year for me too. The color got a little more intense with later blooms but I didn't happen to have a picture handy nodding

I don't have a lot of DL's with ruffled edges, however, I did get some seeds (from someone here @ garden.org). I was so pleased when I saw this seedling bloom last summer. The glittering gold on the edge was something I have never seen before.
