Daylily (Hemerocallis 'House of Orange')

Anyone who has ever seen House of Orange knows how different a shade of orange it is. The flowers are big, bold and always perfect!

I have mine in a container. It blooms very well on tall scapes. But the scapes invariably start to lean. Eventually the scapes fall completely over. I'm thinking this is due to the container and where it is located (I brush past the scapes several times a day). Or it could be my crazy squirrels that love to jump on flower stalks! I really should move it into the ground or a raised bed. I'd love to know if others have the same problem.

I've had House of Orange for a couple years now. It's first blooms were this year. It is performing well and the stats for scape and bloom size are accurate. It is the hottest orange I have.

House of Orange is a very intense dark shade of orange. I purchased it in 2010 and then got rid of it in 2017 due to lack of space. I did like it, I just liked many others better.

Other than the color, there was nothing that stood out for me as far as branching and bud count. It would bloom for about three weeks in my zone 6b garden, from mid-June through the first week of July.

I never saw rust on it.

This is the best picture I have showing how dark the color is compared to the surrounding daylilies.

I've used House of Orange as a pod parent in a cross with a seedling of mine. Only one out of three of the siblings looked like House of Orange.

This seedling is not a keeper because the flowers often take two days to open and are mostly deformed. This picture shows the rare occasion it actually looks halfway decent.

The two other seedlings have much smaller flowers-smaller than either parent.
