I don't blame you for coveting those, my crosses from Sandy with Blissful Blackberry Pie came through the winter in good shape, now if it would just warm up here maybe I would get a bloom out of one of them. nodding

@mcash70 Margaret I am just doing my seeds using your method. Hopefully this will be less fuss this year than making up all the little pots for the seeds with 1/5 of them failing and not needed. Interesting, Natalie was zooming around the country side doing wheelies with a camping trailer back then.

Mine are in the fridge all winter too. When I'm ready I put them in the water/hydrogen peroxide to start them and keep them in the solution in the fridge until they start sprouting. Usually takes about 3 weeks.

This is only part of what I have growing now, sometimes I wish I didn't get almost 100% germination using this method! *Blush*

I do exactly the same as Seedsower. In the fridge until January, then put in peroxide/water until they sprout, change the solution every 3 days. I also get a 100% success rate with germination.

Margaret they are sprouting! What stage should I plant them? As soon as the sprout starts coming out of the seed? or let them get a bit going? Which way is up or doesn't it matter? I feel like a newbie midwife. Normally it is all hidden in the soil Blinking

Just sharing what I recommended to a fellow gardener.

Start the process ASAP to give the seedling plenty of growth before early June.
Place the content of each packet in its own small glass container.
Mix 3 1/2 cups of water and 1/2 cup peroxide ( 3% strength). This is closer to 15% mixture which I like better than 10%.

Add this mixture to the glass containers.
Place these near a window or on a windowseal.
Drain and replace the mixture once a week. Germination should start in ten days. Some take longer.
Pot the germinating seedlings when you can clearly see that they are germinating.
Use Potting mix, not potting soil, which is too heavy.
Use a plastic cut, not a pot, because you will place three drainage holes on the side, about half an inch from the bottom. This allows for a little retaining water at the bottom of the pot. I use the Italian ice cups because they are the correct size (3-4" deep). I eat these during the summer and save the cups for many projects.
Use the mixture to water the pots always. Do not allow to dry at all.
Do provide a saucer for the water that will escape through the holes.
Keep seeds refrigerated, not frozen, until you start the germination Write to me or call me when the seedlings are two to three inches tall. 260.316.1770.

Thumb of 2014-03-15/profesora/1abde4 notice the one seed at the bottom.
Thumb of 2014-03-15/profesora/7676e9 seedlings planted two weeks after planted from germinated. I put these seeds in the glass container because there are too many for my cordial glasses. I put a lid on it to prevent spillage in case the jar is tipped over.

Seeds are up and growing for about two weeks now. I found these 38 deep cell flats on another auction site. They are 5 inches deep and save me some room for other plants that I will be starting soon. I got tired of the cups always tipping over on me, also.

Got them on e-bay from a seller called 'growerssolution'. Bought a five pack of them. They were priced a little high, so was shipping. Hoping to get a few years of use out of them. Got the 1020 flats they fit into at Menards for .99 cents a piece. 38 cell star/ hex plug deep tray/ tree plug seedling tray, in the seed starting and cloning section of garden supplies. I think they have web site off of ebay, also.

I've bought from Growers Solution in the past and, at least at the time, they had very good prices. I remember I bought a case of 3-1/2 inch square nursery pots from them and it was a very good deal.
Their website is just www.growerssolution.com

@Gleni, that's great!! Hurray! I planted my seeds within a day or two after germinating, plant the seed on it's side about 1/2 an inch deep, water well, it will find the right way up. Once the plant is up I watered from the bottom to prevent damp off. Good luck with your babies! Thumbs up
