I just received three bags of loose tree fern from Green Barn Orchid Supplies (www.greenbarnorchid.com). The turn around was 2 days. I don't know how they did that. Anyway, I'm very pleased. Check them out.

I just placed my first order with Marble Branch Farms ... actually this is the first time I've ever bought an orchid from anywhere other than Home Depot! I hope to receive them by the middle of next week and I really look forward to seeing how they do under my absentminded care! I only ordered 2:

Encyclia alata (select dark) x Rlc. Toshie Aoki 'Pizazz' - stick mounted seedling
Cattleytonia Flying colors 'Mendenhall' - 3" pot or stick mounted blooming size

I don't know much about orchids and the names are so long and hard to pronounce ... I just go by the pretty pictures and what catches my attention. Big Grin ...I'll keep y'all posted

Nice choices (my Enc. alata is wonderful and I buy Cattleytonias whenever I see them!) and I placed an order with them this summer and was very happy with their nursery!! They even sent a bonus plant! Eventually you will want to buy more of the types that you have success with and the names will be very handy. Todd and I have made an alliance guide http://cubits.org/orchids/page... when you are ready to learn! Meantime, have fun falling in love!

Well, I had a weak moment and just bought 2 Brassavolas (cucullata and tuberculata) from Jewell Orchids. I hope this turns out to be a good thing.

Jim, those should fit right in with your vandas. They have really long roots and cucullata smells good in the evening. I got a tiny one this summer. My cousin has one in bloom right now. Very different.

I haven't bought from them on e-bay, but I got two from them last Jan. at a show. One is still doing well, but the other rotted before I ever saw it bloom. I don't care for the medium they use, but they have some very nice plants.

Personally, I'd go for it. I have lots of H & R tags on my orchids and thought they were wholesalers only. I think their shipping charges are high though.

I'm not sure what the charges would be...Kawamoto does charge a lot, but they use 2 day fed ex, the plants are lovingly packed and secured so I feel that it's a good investment. H & R gives a discount depending on how much you spend, they charged my card for the exact amount of the plants, but I;m
not sure if they add a second charge for shipping when they do ship or if the discount covered the shipping, I'll have to see. I went ahead and orderd
Bc. Maikai 'Spotted Star', C. Banana Split, L. Ipanema Beach, C.Dowiana v aurea, L. tenebrosa & Psychopsis papilo 'Yellow Bird'. Their website is a
little cumbersome, pictures in one place and separate price list , not all pictured plants are available, but they had some of the plants on my wish list.
