Thanks. That one is great to watch too in its budding stage, and it is mildly scented.

Looking forwards to another season of nice Platanthera lacera at our place in Pennsylvania, here is a picture from July 2009.

Yes, I do.
The location is near Fleetville in NE Pennsylvania, Lackawanna County. Our place is tucked in at the end of a dirt road.

When we discovered them some years ago, we always found them on the edge of the forest, but inside.

Then a few years we started to find more of them on the outside edge of the forest. Last year was a tremendous year for them, we spotted them also here

and I can tell you they are almost impossible to find amongst the wildflowers and tall grasses, but luckily they are always right at the edge of those.
See the one in spike?

This one grew in front of tall Blueberries, which line the edge of the woods on another corner of the property.

and another one

One can spend hours tracking these....fun Smiling

Yes, now I remember that beauty in situ!! I need to go to the High Ledges nearby and look for wildflowers. Someone from Conway (town nearby, lower elevation) posted a clump of cyp. acaules on Facebook!!

I love this pic but it's mostly because this is my ideal orchid-the schema I hold in my mind for the essential qualities I love in an orchid. This one is almost as big as my large hand with the spidery petals and a colored lip and the purity of white so crisp.

The Platanthera lacera is lovely. Nice to see what it looks like growing naturally. Kathy, what is the name of your ideal orchid? It is very much what I think of when I hear "orchid". I would like to have a pure white one like it.
