Petunias

Petunias form a large part of summer plants in our gardens. They come in such a wide array of colors and also in trailing or 'wave' varieties. They are perfect for adding color and interest to any area of the landscape. And they are very easily grown.

Great banner, Leon. The pot is terrific. I'm thinking I'd like a garden bed full of them! We're still waiting for that season.

Yes it stays out year around. I like to cover it with heavy rain/snow-proof material since our winters are not container friendly. I've used this container for about 15 years; and this photo was in July 2009. Unfortunately one year I failed to cover it and a small crack developed. Most of my planters are the heavy black poly material like this one. It is planted with Supertunia®Bubblegum. (The 3rd photo is the same planter in 2015 with 'Black Cherry')

@Marilyn you asked the name of the variety; It is Petunia Supertunia® Mini Rose Veined
Milliflora Spreading/Trailing Petunia (Petunia Supertunia® Mini Rose Veined)

Thanks everyone for your nice comments!

@TBGDN Leon,

Thank you for the variety name of the petunia banner.

Beautiful pics of your container petunias.

What is the height and width of your concrete container? Do you plant one 4 inch pot or several of your petunias to get that look?

@Marilyn,
I have never really measured the planter, but a close guess would be around 30" wide and about 15" in depth. It seems to weigh about 50# so I move it around with a garden cart. I'll make a point to measure later and send you a T-Mail. Smiling

@TBGDN Leon,

You don't have to measure it. I just wondered if you knew.

"It seems to weigh about 50# so I move it around with a garden cart." You move it around? Blinking

How do you move it with a garden cart?

You move it around? Yes from time to time depending on sun or shade loving plants.
How do you move it with a garden cart? Very carefully! By sliding onto a small ramp of plywood.

There was a time I simply lifted it (and other containers) and carried them. But the years have taken a toll on my vertebra and spinal muscles. Now I take extra precautions with heavy objects. It has to do with the aging process (sadly). There are a number of benches, tubs and yard ornaments that I no longer carry about.

It is snowing here this evening. So it is a "stay home" night. Thanks Marilyn for your input & support. Thumbs up
