I spent half the afternoon trying to get a picture of a swallow-tailed kite who was soaring overhead. Final tally is 7 pictures of the sky and 0 pictures of the bird. Grumbling

Yet another nice picture of a daylily, good start to June.

Yes, good start.
Jim that reminds of the time I tried to capture a whole bunch of Pennsylvania Bats exiting in full flight through a tiny crack - at sundown. No matter how hard I tried, I struck out. The light was of course dimming at that time of day and the Bats were fast. Bad combo!
In the meanwhile - those Bats were pretty much all wiped out, so I will never get another chance.

Thank you, Ursula.

No they aren't! Due to a mild winter, their numbers are astronomical here. Angry

This is the pic of the day from Odessa. Hibiscus schizopetalus aka Japanese Lantern. Still raining off and on and the humidity is so high my camera lens keeps fogging up.

Janice, it looks like daylily heaven there, you sure have some beauties. Is there any concern about Lyme disease there from these ticks?

Love the feathers on your Hibiscus Jim.

Yes, Lyme disease is common here. Blinking Blinking

Mild winter, so their numbers are astronomical. Makes you want to stay inside!

Is Lyme up there in Canada?

Gorgeous hib, Jim.

I have a few interesting things going. I made a big hanging basket for a Begonia Odorata Alba this spring. It has an "all white" theme. The variegated liriope was just for textural interest, and here it is blooming with a pretty little white flower looking sort of like lily of the valley. (doesn't smell nice, though, but the begonia is wonderfully fragrant)

I'm a fool for odd flowers, and these corkscrew gingers (costus scabra) are a pretty striped variety I got on a trade.

First time this year, I'm trying out Achimenes, aka Monkey Face pansy (I don't see it . . Shrug! ) I have 3 colors, but all the white ones seem to have fallen victim to the squirrels.

Last is a picture of the tree bougainvillea which is the first thing everyone notices when they walk into the yard. That reminds me, last night I was watching TV when I noticed about 20 people in the back yard. It seems one of my neighbors was having a party and they decided they wanted to see the garden. So out I went in my jammies and gave them the nickle tour. To be fair, I had told my neighbor they could come visit the garden whenever they want but holy cow.

It's really hot and steamy out today. A/C season has begun.
