Thanks for your kind words, Ken!
My cyps did terribly this year. Not cold enough I guess. My Michael came up and the foliage rotted on bottom. GRRRR. I need to check on the rest......

The bletillas are fantastic, Ken. I have a tiny start of Bletilla 'Rickey' with two finger-sized leaves. I'm wondering if it's just too darned hot for them here, since both you and Ursula show them growing happily outside "up north". The Cyps are just lovely, too. I suppose those must grow in Vancouver quite well, too but I must admit I've never seen them in anybody's garden there.

I'm definitely going to try to clone that hedychium sport. If its next shoot is the same great variegation, it's coming outa there and into a pot.
Here's a shot of the main clump, the tallest is nearly 7ft. now. I don't get it, last year they were just about 4ft, which is what the plant description says.

Now this Canna 'Stuttgart' is supposed to have wonderful variegation and never has had a single swipe of white on the nice blue-green leaves. I've even bought it from two different sources.

Another nice (small) canna, and my faithful red daylily that re-blooms about every 2 months from April right through to winter. All my other daylilies peter out but this one is great!

I've been away from this thread for a couple of days and have fallen seriously behind. That's a good thing!

Ken great bletilla show. I don't expect to see any here until fall. We are into hot and humid for the next few months.

Elaine, nice canna and I love the red daylily.

Janice, is your visitor a dainty sulphur butterfly?

I'm sitting here in anticipation of tomorrow's newspaper. I hope the reporter will be kind. I send you a link as soon as I have it.

I have a couple of pictures from the little native garden out by the lake. I planted a couple of bald cypress trees out there a few years ago and have since added native cannas, lris and a few swamp hibiscus. The hibiscus started booming about a week ago.

And to my surprise, a crinum lily is growing out there. I have no ided how it got there.

Gorgeous color on the Hibiscus!

I was able to match my four hardy Waterlilies with their proper names -
Today the Salmon colored one put on a nice show - this is a good size bloom ( I pushed several fertilizer pellets into the pots).
Nymphaea 'Colorado'

and Nymphaea 'Joey Tomocik' was also open.

So pretty, Janice. I love the casual 'wildflower' look of the one with the bird house.

It is a delight to sit here and watch the beautiful show unfold before my eyes. Wonderful contributions everyone.

The news paper article was pretty good in this mornings paper. The reporter promised to send me a link but I haven't received it yet. It was all about palms and cycads and nary an orchid was mentioned. It is almost like attending my palm presentation.
