I sure wish it would warm up. My ghetto residents are all camping out in my dining area. Sort of a half way house at the present. I need a compass just to find my way through the jungle and get to the kitchen.

That dining room is a 'Pot Ghetto"!! It's very well organized though, how do you get hibiscus to bloom in the house? What are you feeding them in that dining room ghetto?

greene said:Very nice spring high rise ghetto. I like that your ghetto residents each have a bit of elbow room, each has plenty of access to sun, and you are keeping the pots up off the surface of the table 'formerly known as picnic'. Your ghetto residents will be psychologically well-adjusted for sure. Rolling on the floor laughing

I was hoping you would not recognize 'Picnic', but it supports the ghetto well and I figure if I am going to abuse a table I should go all the way. LOL.

The scary thing about my pot ghetto/dining room is that it's only 7'X11' and I have to squeeze through it to get to any of my other rooms. That means I eat in the living room. The 6' sliding glass door faces SW so it does let lots of light in. The hibiscus is one I just bought on Sat. so that's why it's blooming. I have them bloom a little inside in front of the window, but usually I let them go partly dormant overwinter or just don't bother trying to keep them over winter. I think I will try to keep this one if it does well over summer. Looks like maybe after about 5 days, I will be able to move things back outside. Lows will still be in the low 50's but I think things will tolerate that.

Susan. You are truely a dedicated gardener.
I just sprinkled Red Pepper flakes on my containers. Squirrles are digging up the one week old Sempervivums. and tossing dirt from other planters everywhere.

If you have any, try the bonemeal. I heard they hate the smell just as much as they hate Cheyenne pepper!

My pot ghetto is shrinking! Hurray!
Yesterday I emptied 22+ plants plus one flat. The plants went into the new front garden box which is only 1/3 completed.

And my daughter Lovey dubby helped to clean up some of the winter-killed plants. I didn't count the pots; only counted my blessings that she did the work willingly without being asked.

Pot ghetto keeps changing and I keep forgetting to take updated photos. These were taken last week of May, and during the first week of the month.

I love photos of newly-empty pots.

They always make me think of "morning after" photos of a wild party, with empty bottles and cans scattered around the apartment.

My pot ghetto is much more exciting than a dirty apartment and a hangover. LOL. I only have 100 more to go, so I am about to put these in the shade so they will not get dried out so fast. This year no daylilies in 1 gallon pots, they are all 2 or 2.5 gallon. 3 gallon pots are a bit heavy. Whistling

Your "pot ghetto" looks like a planned community or maybe a research lab. Really classy!

Rick, you party animal!! Hilarious!

It really was a planned community, I am just afraid of breaking the zoning laws. LOL.

@Cat I have been getting my pots from Growers Solution on eBay. But I think they have a website.

Cat, here's the Grower's Solution website page for black pots:
http://www.growerssolution.com...

Here's another site (I haven't tried them, but I saved the link when I was searching around):
http://plasticflowerpots.net/2...

I've also seen a wide variety of very large pots sold at "hydroponics shops".

Most of my big pots come from nursery and Home Depot throw-outs.
