Even though officially summer is still a few weeks away, I am starting a thread to show the abundance of blooms I currently have. Pride of place goes to Plumeria obtusa 'Singapore', the classic beauty found all over Hawai'i where it perfumes the air with its strong fragrance.

I would also like to share this: a new seedling of 'Maui Beauty' which is in the process of getting a new name. It was grown by a Plumeria-friend in California, Dewaine Callahan, who was nice enough to share it!Thumb of 2012-06-04/Dutchlady1/876931

Bali Whirl is the only plumeria that has ten petals. It can either grow like this, with wide open spaced petals, or sometimes as a nice tight little rose-like shape.Thumb of 2012-06-04/Dutchlady1/071978

Singapore is the species that doesn't lose its leaves, correct? I remember seeing it all over Hawaii and it looks a lot like the ones that are all over here. The smell is stronger on some than others or perhaps it is the time of day that I go by them. There are 3 or 4 trees near the outside escalator to the grocery store I use and at some times the smell is fabulous, other times I barely get a whiff.

That Maui Beauty is certainly a beauty. I love the shape and color combo. Nice.

Yes, Singapore stays pretty much evergreen.
The picture above is a seedling of Maui Beauty named 'Blazing Heart'. Here is Maui Beauty - the pod parent....Thumb of 2012-06-04/Dutchlady1/801bd5
Maui Beauty is also the pod parent of the plumeria 'Henriette' which was named for me

Love the seedling "Blazing Heart" - looks prettier than the parent...good genes. Smiling

And 'Singapore' is lovely. I recently ran across 'Dwarf Singapore Pink' - is that as wonderful a plant as is being hyped?

Dwarf Singapore Pink is a true dwarf, very small and compact. Other than that, it has cute small pink flowers, which does not make my heart beat faster Shrug! Thumb of 2012-06-04/Dutchlady1/09da03

Thanks for info - some of the gardeners in my area were talking about it as it would be so easy to protect. Your "shrug" says it all. Smiling

Nor mine. And it appear to be a very wishy-washy pink...even worse. nodding

I already posted to the banner page, but it needs to be said again. Great photography and beautiful plant. Thanks.

This is a plumeria I call *25* since DH gave it to me for our 25th anniversary.
I am fairly certain it is 'Plastic Pink'.

Someday I'll be able to post my plumeria flowers, right now they are little starts from chefmike's coop earlier this spring. Had 100 percent success rate on three cuttings which are now outside in sunken pots and have leaves but don't look like much yet. Ecuador pink, Aztec gold and something else. Also from seeds have seedlings of slaughter pink and mareno rainbow, tho I know these don't come true from seed. Very exciting to see your photos, how many years before mine will flower like that?
