Including @Altheabyanothername on this as she asked the original question. Does anyone know if these 2 can be crossed?
Johnsonii is a hybrid cross of Hippeastrum reginae with Hippeastrum vitattum, but I am not sure what Christmas Gift is, except that it is a Dutch Hybrid (1987??). Per emaryllis.com: "Dating to as early as 1799, Hippeastrum x johnsonii is the oldest recorded Hippeastrum hybrid, and it still ranks as one of the hardiest for temperate gardens. A cross between the scarlet H. reginae and the white and red striped H. vittatum. Numerous variants of the hybrid seem to exist"
Does anyone know more about Christmas Gift and if these 2 can be crossed??? @Paul2032, @bsharf ??????? Either of you know anything???

Wow, great question. No idea! I think you try it and see if you get viable seeds.

The reason I asked Christie about it is because I only had those two both open at the same time. Barely 3 feet from each other, and it was bee pollination. Both are exploding with pods, wondering if it is self-pollination or if the possibilty of cross pollination is there. Which I think would be exciting. So I guess I will have to grow out the seeds and see who daddy is.

May everyone be blessed with a beautiful garden this year!

Yes - you will have to wait a few years to find out, but if they did cross, I think you might get some very nice blooms!

For now crossing apple blossom with itself gave no seeds, second year I trying and nothing. It seems like apple blossom cannot produce seeds.
