Planted summer squash seeds in those cell packs reused from the nursery. I know it wouldn't be much for a farm but for my home garden I planted a lot. I hope they sprout quickly and do well.
I have-
Caserta
Golden Egg
Green Tiger
Northern States
Sunstripe
Saffron
Poquito
Cavelli

I need squash to go with all the many tomatoes that I just finished planting. ON tomatoes I have 100 plants! Hilarious!

hello all

I used to be active on the farm thread several years ago. I'm back and although I don't farm I am getting chickens again. It's funny how much you miss your barnyard when they're gone.

I'm glad to see some familiar faces here! Group hug

Welcome back! We are not very active here recently; I'm glad there are still a few people interested in farming around. What breeds of chickens do you have?

I'm starting over Porkpal. Lost a beautiful flock several years ago to a weasel (we think). I bought 5 red stars tonight....very vocal girls! Have a lead on some Barred Rocks later this week. Need a good rooster though.

Do you keep chickens too? Breeds?

I have an assortment of breeds: Barred Rocks, Dominiques, Rhode Island Reds, Red Sex Links, Silver and Gold Laced Wyndottes, Americaunas, Buff Orpingtons, Austrolorps, California Whites, Dominiques, Minorcas, and one Black Sex Link Rooster - due to an obvious mistake! My egg customers usually like a varied collection of eggs, more casual and home-like, perhaps.

I don't get over here enough as I enjoy seeing farm animals. There are many farms nearby but I only have chickens. They are so much fun! I'm down to four hens and my rooster. Since getting the rooster, I haven't lost any hens to prey.

He's the best rooster. He's never been aggressive with me or any other humans. As you can see, the dogs and chickens get along just fine. The rooster sees the dogs as extra protection. LOL! He does a great job taking care of the hens.

Ameraucana rooster

Beautiful rooster. We once had a Rhode Island red roo who regularly groomed our large shaggy dog for bugs and such. They were buds. I've never had any particular problem with dog/chicken interaction. Neither our dog nor the neighbor dog (who is here most of the time) give them much attention, and recently when a friend came over with a lab, she gave them a quick look-see then ignored them (they were free ranging at the time).
I want to live in a world where the chicken can cross the road without its motives being questioned.

I love a colorful coop! And pretty eggs. This is a pretty dozen from my old flock:

No way Deb, not allowed chickens in town for one thing, plus I don't have the energy anymore at my age.

They don't allow chickens here in my town either. Which I feel is unfair. But I guess on the bright side of things I already have enough to do taking care of my garden without adding chickens. But I would really love to have them.

It looks like someone is trying to sell there farm produce on this thread. If you all will hit the red button on the bottom far right corner, it will go away. I did already.

I refuse to use that button. Wouldn't it be better to simply redirect the person to the appropriate forum (the buy/sell one)?

I see that the post is gone so it must have been moved or removed. The post was in Polish from a new member, first time poster.

I must have missed it. From your post, it sounded like it could have been a legitimate buy/sell offer, but the language barrier would make that a bit difficult. None of those types of posts particularly bother me. I just scroll past. Poof. Gone.
