I'm having difficulty getting my comments about plants on my list to stay. They seem to show and then immediately disappear. Is there a limit on their size? Or something I'm not doing right?

Are you clicking on "Save" each time you change a comment?

Same thing for me. Plant already in list. Click on comment, make comment, hit save. Briefly shows up, then disappears. Click on comment field again for the same plant, the comment is still in the box, hit save again. Comment appears permanently.

I haven't done it with a newly added plant, just plants already in list.

Have you tried exiting your list, then going back in? I noticed with a couple of plants I added this morning that they didn't show up till I exited then re-entered my list.

That's strange behavior. I'll try to replicate it myself.

Sorry for the delay. Was actually GARDENING! Hurray!

Yes, Dave. I've been hitting "Save". Thought maybe I wasn't so I went back and tried it again. I was eventually able to get ONE to actually save and stay, but have to admit I didn't try to hard on the others just yet. Main focus was just entering the plants.

And woofie - I just now went back to the list and looked and the comments that vanished are not there.

OK - I think I've found the secret to getting the comments to stay.

1. Write the comment.
2. COPY it before saving because it will disappear.
3. Immediately paste it in again and save again.

Usually it will stick after the 2nd try, but occasionally it seems to need 3 tries.

What browser are you using, Ann? I just tried adding comments and they stayed just fine for me. I'm using Firefox.

She's using Firefox.

I have not yet been able to replicate this (which means I can't fix it yet). Still trying different things here, but every time I add a comment, it works fine.

I tried adding comments in Chrome and Firefox with no problem. I have found that when I start having little glitches restarting my computer will fix it.

I use Firefox and I restart my computer daily. Also Windows 7 on this computer. I'll try it on the older computer which uses XP

I'm using IE9 - can replicate behavior every time. Don't know if this helps, but after the first save, I'm thrown back to a randomly chosen area of the list.

This last time, I used a totally different computer (not even in the same state) running Vista. My home computer uses Windows 7, SP1.

Aha. Got it to work correctly with Chrome, but not IE9. Hope that helps.

OK, I'm doing a test. Using my NEW computer to start. It runs Windows 7. Using Firefox I had to enter it twice before it stuck.

So I tried Chrome - same thing. Disappeared the first time, but the second time I entered it, it stayed.

Tried IE and it stayed the first time.

Next test will be on my older computer. I don't have Chrome over there.

That's weird, Ann. I'm using my relatively new laptop, running Win 7 and Firefox, and it's working fine for me. Could this be a problem related to your ISP? Confused

Hard to know. I'm now on the older computer (XP) and it doesn't matter whether I use IE or Firefox, I have to enter the data twice to make it stick.

Guess it doesn't really matter if I've figured out a way that works.

But I doubt that my ISP would have anything to do with it.

For the record, I'm now in Calgary and using a hotel computer and the same thing happened. I had to enter the comment twice.

I'm continuing to try to narrow down what is causing this and have not yet been successful. I can give you this tip, though: if you click on the edit icon on the right, it takes you to an alternative screen where you can edit your comments, and I am pretty sure that screen will work 100% of the time for you.
