I like the peony, Leslie, ,but thought the ant "dealy' was an "old wive's tale". They just like the sweet nectar, that all. Mine didn't have ants & they still flowered away ! Nice banner, though- Congrats !
Beautiful banner, Leslie; what a gorgeous colour. I'm going out to see whether our peonies have ants - we've had so much rain recently that I expect if there are any they might have drowned...
Steve - the ants and peonies benefit from the activity of one another. Peony flowers provide nectar for ants and in turn the ants protect the blossoms from other floral-feeding insects. In my area the buds would be eaten if not for the ant "guards."
Casey - I will get back to you on the name. I keep losing the tag on this one. It is a pretty peony.
