Have learned a bit this year seeing how these crosses turn out. How some
yellows tend to lighten colors, and sometimes get the 'mud' out, and how
white can turn up unexpectedly. And, of course, how the daylily dogs can make
one ask, "where in the world did that come from".

Those are both really nice. You could use the second one as a bridge plant to try and get better color if it has other things going for it.
