It is pretty, isn't it?
Just some info. The iris Lion King came from Ensata Gardens first, and Walters Gardens, the leading wholesaler bought it to introduce in the huge quantities they grow things in, 100s of thousands, usually. I know I said this part before, but in case someone missed it. So the basic plant growers (not iris growers) around the country have purchased it from Walters. From Walters, it will be true to name, as they are meticulous.
But, Walters is in Michigan, and the plants were grown there, and as we all know, irises set their flower buds the year before. So the plant you got, Paul, set it's bud in cooler Michigan, and may not do as well for you.
Last year on Cubits I made a general announcement when it was time to fertilize your beardless irises in late summer for bud set. Evan said he did this, with good results.
Can't wait to see it next year, Paul.
