How cool to attempt growing these in Zambia! The ones that were shipped from USA could is the rest period like what you're providing, bright shade, then slowly more sun, they should be fine!! If they begin to wilt a little then provide afternoon shade!
I've found if I water them regularly, they grow larger and faster, but are fine with less water just not as large :)
