Rolling my eyes. Actually Robert, it's probably more that my winters are warmer than yours. I'd love the credit but it was my fault that they baked in the spring and I lost the first bud. Also I didn't protect them soon enough from my male dog who thought they were fire hydrants, I almost lost one from that.

I have 3 more plants from that batch, two that should be blooming soon. I'm looking around for the right pots to put them in now. I can't decide between something shallow which is what I have other adeniums in or something deeper so I can bury the caudex for awhile and see if it grows larger.

Buried caudexes do grow larger, for the first three years from babyhood, anyway. There's a grower in India that gets HUGE caudexi in 3 years.

Good learning curve, anyways. Keep at it, and keep posing those plants. Fun to watch them.

I admit that I hadn't fertilized these at all, I have now though Thumbs up

A second bloom opened and it has a white throat. The first one had a light red throat that I rather liked but, oh well. Here's a pic of both blooms.

Many blooms change as they age. Sometimes good, sometimes you'd rather they didn't.

Plus, the second and third times they bloom, the flowers might change. Weird plants, Adeniums!

Good looking 1 year olds, Jonna! And so cute with the pretty blooms! They remind me of cute barrettes on a child's head. Hilarious!

I have some babies too. I got them at another forum, someone dowsizing her collection. I figured, it would be fun to observe how very little ones grow. I already have a more mature adenium. I also got another one last year from ebay.just for fun again..have not seen it bloom..still young I guess. But seeing Jonna's one year old..maybe my little one has a chance.
This is the one from ebay last year: the seller said its name is Adenium obesum 'Orange Sun'

this one lost all the leaves it has when it came during our heat wave, but it is growing back new ones now
Thumb of 2013-08-02/tarev/241ecd

And this one is the older one I have had since fall of 2010, no blooms yet this year..but still hoping it will try to have some, it is just busy right now making new leaves and making its caudex fatter Hilarious!

I think your babies could benefit from a little fertilizer, maybe half strength. It seems to me they should be bigger by now....

They are growing nice caudex, more caudex than leaves. That big one has a beautiful caudex, I hope it blooms soon.

The caudex on that last one is fantastic!! It looks like some kind of fat horse collar wrapped around the plant! Could you maybe take a couple more photos of it from different angles, please? It has such a nice symmetrical shape--I think if you pruned back all the longer stems except the one central stem it would look a lot like a Thai soco in overall shape.

Jonna, that's outstanding--seed to bloom in 1 year! Did you grow them through the winter, like under lights or in a window, or did they go dormant?
