I agree Gorgeous seedlings, Shirlee!

Thank You! Mary,
Jester's Collar x Gudrid always looks good. The blooms open well, even after a cool night, and they are never blotchy. I am going to move it this autumn to a better spot.

I was going to get Bowtie Affair but I'm going to just use my Bowtie Affair X Yoga Man seedlings instead. My best one was my main pollen parent for my early blue eyes this year. I think I even ended up with a pod on Facemaker using it.
If anyone is looking for Bowtie Affair Floyd Cove has it for $25df

Thanks so much Betty and Daniel for the comments,
acorns, and thumbs. I hope to register this one along
with the one in the avatar pic. Love, love these two.
Just waiting for them to increase and complete stats.
Lost count on how many times these have re-bloomed.
My concentration was more on getting pics during
the limited time to do so, and way too many seedlings
to photograph.

Thanks Sue, Mary, Karen, and Valerie for the comments
and thumbs. I certainly appreciate them. I didn't have
time to post so many that I also wanted to share earlier
in the season. Maybe get them in next season. We are currently cutting the foliage leaving about a foot of growth on each
plant to clean up the beds. Easier to water that way and
see the number of fans, scape height, etc., and of course,
pull the weeds.

Daniel, I have several Bow Tie Affair x Waves of Joy
seedlings, and you wouldn't believe the difference
in those. Entirely different, but this flower was the best
by far though I liked all of them. I seldom get sibs that
look the same, at least with tets. Think dips may be
more likely to do that though. Will need to review pics
to see if that is the case with dips. However the BTA x WoJ
cross made nice flowers for me for anyone who wants to
try that cross.

Valerie, I love lavenders, and your Painted on Jeans x
Cloud Rider #1 is a gorgeous lavender. Congrats!!

Shirlee I purchased 10 seeds of Bowtie Affair X Yoga Man and from that I have 9 plants all of which are drop dead gorgeous. Most of them have similarities but are different in their own way also. The one thing that does not change is the big blueish eyes that extend into the sepels. several displayed patterns within the eye but none as clear as yours Lovey dubby

Congrats on those Daniel. I had to look up Yoga Man.
Yes, I can see how a cross of Bow Tie Affair x Yoga Man
will give out blue tones. Don't you just love those blues?

Still trying to get the entire base color to show blue tones. Maybe
that will show up sometime in the future. I've read that there is no
blue pigment in daylilies, yet there certainly is in the
eye area, so why not the entire flower? I have a few
that the bluish eye is so big it covers most of the bloom, so
why not all of it? But then, what do I know?

Many hybridizers have tried to make the elusive all blue daylily over the years. Maybe we will be lucky and see if in our life time. I don't shoot for all blue personally I focus on blue eyes and try to extend the eyes out as far as possible. I also try to keep my blue eyes on white or near white selfs. I'm not a huge fan of a pink or purple flower with a blue eye and when I get them I use them in my watermark program to try and get those nice smoky colored watermarks. Thumbs up

Heavenly New Frontiers X Wolverine sib, second bloom. First bloom was asymmetric due to a curved pod.
Maybe you don't know what they are really going to look like until the second year?

I have seedlings where the flower is still evolving in the third bloom year. Not being commercial, I give everything at least two years of flowering unless obviously ugly.

Beautiful seedlings, Valerie and Sue! Their colors are so wonderful and clear.

You have shown so many amazing blue eyed pattern seedlings, Shirlee! Some, registered in my memory, are those you posted earlier in this year and last year. Do you have a website for your intros or do you sell on LA? What alias do you go by on LA? I will look for your offerings.

After I saw so many nice seedlings out of Bowtie Affair from your postings Shirlee, this led me to splurge on Pharaohs' Arrows from Floyd Cove when it was first introduced. PA's pollen parent is Bowtie Affair. Though I did not make many crosses this year, I did cross PA pollen on a variety of daylilies to experiment this summer. PA pollen proved to be quite fertile. I crossed PA with Venetian Pools, a few dark eyed seedlings, a cream seedling, and a pink toothy seedling. I am really curious whether the pattern will pass onto my cream and pink toothy seedling cross.

Hybridizing for blue eye is not part of my hybridizing program. That is too challenging a goal for me. Plus I don't have enough land or labor to plant out many seeds. It is not easy to get a good looking flower from this goal because most eyes turn out purple or violet and not blue. I do love blue eye on white or cream petals. I am with you Daniel. I am also not big on pink and purple flowers with blue eyes.

Sue, I agree with Dave. It takes at least 3 years to see a seedling's potential and promise. For example, many of my seedlings show rebloom in the third year.

Thank you so much, Dave and Karen! It is hard to find out what to do or expect next. This is my first foray into seedlings, and I jumped in the deep end! Rolling my eyes.
After I finished mapping and colorizing a chart of my four seedling beds, it became obvious that I had bought with a heavy emphasis on 4 or 5 parents... and so I think in three years it may be hard to make decisions between similar-looking plants. But we'll see..

Thank You!

Karen, thanks so much for your interest, but we are not
selling plants at this time. Happy to know you enjoyed the pics.

I cancelled my paid website when hubby became ill last year. He is
fine now, but as we are busy downsizing, I have not considered doing
a new website.

And, perhaps showing the seedlings will give others an idea
of what they might like to cross. When I first started crosses,
there were very few examples of the results of crosses, but
those few examples were very helpful to me. So, I guess my
purpose is to pass it on.

Well, you certainly achieved with Bowtie Affair. I saw your beautiful seedlings, and got myself some Bowtie Affairs genetics. Thumbs up
Can't wait to see what these seeds will produce. I also tried to get Marina Del Rey but was consistently outbid on LA. MDR was another one whose seedlings you posted were very beautiful.

Rebloom question: The first of my seedlings to bloom, now almost finished, is now throwing up a new scape. Is that considered part of the same bloom cycle, or is that a rebloom? The definition in the daylily dictionary just says it is more than one cycle of bloom. Confused
Many thanks.

For me, a rebloom is a scape that comes up from the same fan that already sent up a scape of bloom in the same growing season. I have heard some people get multiple reblooms from the same fan.
