I am on the iPad, so will be brief, as typing on it is a challenge.
I used to have sales beds by alphabet. An A bed, B bed etc.
Then I tried purposefully arranging them.
Honestly, the alphabet beds looked just as nice as ones with lots of thought.
When I was still working, I always worked second shift, so I was going out at 2 p.m. to go to work. I hated looking at slicked dark daylilies. So, I moved almost all the yellow, peach, pink ones to the front bed that I would see mid afternoon, as those colors hold up well to sun and heat. I put the reds, rose, purple ones on the west side, where they are shaded till about noon. I like it this way. I am able to see the darker ones at their best a few more hours that way.
I have some in the mixed perennial beds too. But the majority are in rows in areas of the bed with only daylilies.
