If anyone could give me the names of these plants,i will really appreciate it.I need to figure out how to root or pot them. Then to care for them, with their names i can look them up.Any advice is greatly appreciated!!!

The plants that look kind of like an aloe plant was babies taken off of the largest plant i have ever seen of that kind!!! But it didn't look like the normal house hold aloe vera plant.I have them all in a container in some soil until i can figure out what to do with them.

The last 2 could be Sedums.

I had no idea an Aloe could get that big!!! The mother plant was HUGE.I couldn't even lift it an inch off the porch rail it was sitting on.

Thanks I will search types of sedums to try to get a name for it.I also need to get the correct name on a donkey tail sedum!!

She called the little round balls hens & bitties, she said she gave me some bitties.

have a lovely day!!!!

The round ones are either sempervivum, jovibarba, or maybe rosularia, all closely related, usually called hens and chicks but i like 'bitties'

Burro's tail sedum is Sedum morganianum, and yes, Hens and Chicks is good but Hens and Bitties is CUTE! Hilarious!

Are the hen & bitties a sedum or no?Should i search hen & chicks instead of bitties? I agree Bitties is so much CUTIER Lovey dubby Am i going to have a hard time pinning down a botanical name for the bitties without a picture of the hen?I really don't remember but i think the moma's were the same only bigger but not sure.I do know they were hanging from a strawberry pot & she just pinched some hanging off with her hand.

There was so many plants on this porch that my head was spinning.A friend had died & the person with the plants is in a wheel chair and was just sharing!! Hurray!

All the plants in the bucket are already rooting Hurray! I checked them this morning and couldn't believe it.I got them a week from today.

Does anyone know about the one in the long pot? Someone said they thought it was a sedum,I will post it on the sedum forum!!

I have to say it again i don't know if i will ever see an aloe that big again,it had a BIG round root like thing that had grown over the side of the bucket (not pot) it was in and had more plants on it hanging down almost to the rail it sat on.This stem would have had to be cut with large loppers or some sort or pruners,it was as big around as a medium size tree trunk.I took 4 or 5 babies straight out of the pot all but 1 had roots and you couldn't even tell.

My grandson burned his leg on a motorcycle and she told me to break off a big piece of the plant for his leg.Between the length & serrated edges he run because he thought it was a huge knife & i was going to cut off his leg!!! Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

Sorry so long got carried away, everyone have a lovely day!!!! Group hug

That is very funny. But yes, Aloe is great for shallow cuts and scrapes, as well as regular burns. And they do get big...

Yes, in your first reply above, purpleinopp correctly IDed the last 2 shots as sedums.

Your alow should get it's own pot, they will get big.

And your little round 'bitties', commonly called hens and chicks, look like sempervivum as mentioned above, so that is their latin botanical name.

I believe this may be the first time meeting some of you (but i may be wrong) anyway nice to meet you Calif_Sue,Tophertuttle,purpleinopp :tiphat:

All these plants are succulents so cactus, succulent soil, little water, lots of sun.Any of them take a little less sun than other or more or less water.

Now I have enough info to plant them since they have all rooted,I have some work to do today. The Hen & Bitties some still have the stalk that attached it to the parent plant and it rooted there others didn't and they have bunch's of little roots coming out of the (ball) plant.Do i just sit them on top of some loosely potted soil?

I only have one succulent left i don't know what it is and she just gave it to me potted.I have no idea how much sun it likes,i had it next to my other succulents, it's been cloudy, the sun is trying to shine today and this plant seems a little more fragile with thinner leaves so i'm going to move it out of direct sun into some dappled sun,I'm watching the plant for it to give me signs of watering needs.I think the pot it's in is way to big so I hope i get an id soon..

Have a lovely day all !!! Thumbs up

This is the only picture i took of this plant,my camera takes awful pictures Crying I can't figure out why Whistling It's set up for me to set the settings and that is probably the reason,i don't know how to set a camera *Blush*
If another picture is needed let me know i will take more and maybe get lucky!!! Shrug!

Now call me confused, sedum forum said it's an upright sedum? what's the general opinion on that ID a possibility. They did say may need to wait until the fall when it blooms.I love getting new plants, you can learn so much trying to ID them Hurray!

THANK YOU Thumbs up
