One year later gardens are flipped though the one down South needs water but nearly as bad as the one up North.

Lack of rain? Yeah, it's already starting. We probably only had 25% of normal snowfall this winter too, even though the last two winters we got blasted with huge snowfalls.

Very dry winter here too and Spring isn't looking so hot right now. Getting some rain but not much to put a dent in the drought.

Much drier than normal here this winter as well; they're already warning about fire danger.

I didn't take my snowmobile trip to Houghton this winter because of lack of snow. They only had a couple more inches than we had here at the time, and our snow was terrible.

I think most of the scheduled dog sled races in the UP were cancelled this year due to lack of snow. Sad

(It's been quite a few years since the UP 200 dog sled race stopped coming down my way, near Escanaba, after a musher and his dogs went through the ice on the bay and drowned; for many years it was normal for a road to be plowed across Bay de Noc from Escanaba to the Stonington Peninsula, something like 5 miles, in the winter - now the bay rarely freezes over. Times are a-changin'.)

Pretty sure we're short here as well but not sure by how much. Have a feeling it's gonna be another dry year.

I think we must be caught up after that last storm!

We ended 2023 in the Twin Cities with a precipitation deficit of 1.88 inches. 2022 had an 8.60 inch deficit and in 2021, 5.61 inches. The last year with a surplus was 2019, which was our wettest year on record. 2019 ended with a surplus of nearly 1 foot of precipitation.

Since 2019, we're behind by 6.23 inches overall. This is reflected in places like Lake Minnetonka, which is about a half-foot below normal.

Last time I checked we had 2 inches of rain so far, with rain storms coming and going.
At one point the wind really picked up, but now it is down to steady breeze.

We needed the rain.

Lucky you getting 2 inches. Our rain probably didn't even hit the inside of the gauge. Blew sideways the whole time.
