This summer's weather as annoying as there were only a handful of average summer weather, and darnclose to zero average fall weather so far, but, still better than the dry years.

As the old saying goes: It could be worse. I tip my hat to you.

LOL. I was reading through it and not realizing that it was from 7 years ago until a couple of messages right before yours. I thought wait, I know there was a new message! This thread hit home for me. I wouldn't say everyone in our area suffered as much, but our immediate geographic location did not get much rain at all. Sort of like a micro climate drought. NASA has done studies and found that major cities impact weather patterns. As storms approach the updraft caused by the heat coming from the city, the storm either goes around or dissipates and reforms. Something you don't think about buying a house until after the fact. We live on the west side of a major city and since that's the direction we get most of the weather, we lose out on a lot of rain. :(

I wish I still had the link to the NASA study.

Actually, a lot of Ohio is abnormally dry, or in moderate drought:

We finally got some good rain on Saturday. And, of course, it's supposed to be cold and rain for Halloween.

Yep I've seen the charts. Our micro location didn't get any precipitation worthy of mentioning for months, but 1 mile away they'd get thunderstorms. It's crazy.

HEY! Nothing wrong being short! Unless it's rain. I haven't looked at our area. Our microenvironment is always less than the general area. NASA did a study and showed the west side of large cities get less rain due to the heat rising from the city creating a convection current. Not sure if I can find the link since the study is around 20 years old but I'll look for it.

Here in Cincinnati, we are 2.1" above normal year-to-date rainfall. I'm sick of rain and dark dreary days!

Been trying to find that study by NASA and google isn't being nice to me. Sad Would like to see if there's an update as it has been a long time since the study was conducted.

This article isn't the study I read a number of years ago, but sort of goes into what that study concluded.

hmm.. seems I've taken over the thread!

So it's been sprinkling just enough to keep the cement wet. Not enough to cause a run off to collect rain. The ironic part, for some reason, the sump pump kicked on a few minutes ago and there's a flash flood warning. Our section of town just keeps getting missed, whether the weather is coming from the west or the south.... Shrug! Shrug! Shrug! Shrug!

We've had a lot of rain today, some heavy. Flood warnings here, too. They're saying we'll get 2-3" by Tuesday night, isolated spots could get up to 4".

People are out mowing the grass. That's how little rain we've had all freaking weekend when it was supposed to dump on us.

Dumping has commenced! Had a hail system approaching but the storm dropped in severity right before it got to our local area. Buckets are catching rain. Now to get on a coat and go empty them as they fill.

Better than nothing.
Over in the Northern Gardening thread, when I do not post, it mostly just sits.

My home town got 2.5 inches of much need rain; North garden recieved 1/2 inch.
Seems the cooking hot weather they babbled about last week is history.

Yeah, I haven't heard how much rain we've received, and I don't have a rain gauge, but it's finally a considerable amount. Central ohio has gotten much more than our section of it, but I'm happy finally getting some and glad the severity of the storm dropped before hitting.

The heavy rain continues. Nonstop, heavy, flooding rains. It's incredible. Our sump pump is running constantly, thank God. The flash flood watch continues until tonight.

Yep. I haven't heard ours kick on,oops there it went. Funny I heard it several times yesterday when we didn't get any rain! All around us did. I wonder if the water table was getting high from the bottom up instead of top down? Very weird. I can almost see outside now and it's a flood. No complaints other than I was going to have the boat put in the weekend but I bet the lake will be closed due to high water.

A very pleasant 72 right now and we are well above average for rain but after last years drought I absolutely will not complain.
Sloughs still way down on the water level.
More rain coming in a few day so I have three dry days to get some gardening done.

Adequate rain up North, good garden. Thumbs up

Genuine drought down South, barely tolerable garden. Blinking

What a change from spring time. Sighing!
