I agree A great christmas gift, birthday gift, mothers day gift or "just because" gift. I've made up a couple of gift baskets in the past ... very easy: take a rattan or woven basket, line it with pretty fabric, or filler of some sort (i.e. layers of colorful tissue paper, or raffia.) then add a few items like scented soaps, a candle, gardener's hand balm, tube of lip balm, a pair of gardening gloves, hand trowel etc; then tie a pretty bow on the side of the basket (or basket handle) and voila ... a gift anyone would love!

That's what I'm doing myself. I personally hate the smell of lavender, but I love home-made stuff to give away. To me, that tells that I cared about someone way more than buying some kind of junk at a store. Any schmoe can buy something at Best Buy or Walmart, but to get something hand-made? That takes thought as to what the person likes. 4 years ago, in '08, I was visiting my parents in upstate NY. We went to a Mennonite store in Philadelphia, NY and they have a little crafty-store next to the grocery store. In the store was a hand-made crazyquilt. For those who don't know quilts, a "crazyquilt" is a quilt made with no pattern in mind, just random pieces of fabric pieced together in a crazy pattern. This cost me almost my entire budget for being there, but it was well worth it, as when I saw it, I knew I had to get it for my mother in law for Christmas. She loved it! I also picked up a smaller lap-quilt for a good friend of mine, hand made.
Roses are one of my passions! Just opened, my Etsy shop (to fund my rose hobby)! http://www.etsy.com/shop/Tweet...

LOL, well I'm one of those "schmoe's" who shops at Wal-Mart a lot, sometimes three to four times a week! Green Grin! I'm not real crafty so I purchase hand made items by talented crafty folks (which I'm not) as well as store bought stuff for making up gift baskets.

Back in 1970 my dear mother in law made a really pretty crazy quilt for her bed and at the same time made me a crazy quilt poncho/cape thingy. It was quite colorful and very pretty ... wish I still had it.
