LOL! It seems like some folks will find a way around anything.

I've been driving by this realtor's "for sale" sign on our road for several months now. It is treed land with a couple of very old mobile homes on it. I drove by on Saturday and the for sale sign was thrown into the middle of the road and someone had put up a sign stating that anyone coming onto the property would be shot (picture of gun) and that the folks on that property had the right to shoot. So I asked the neighbor. She says that the owner of the land is selling it and that the mobile home occupants are "rentors". They haven't paid rent in a loooooong time. Like years. They are refusing to leave and refusing to let anyone on the property so that the owner can sell. It'll end up in court with the sherriff out to vacate the property. I guess there are folks who won't pay their way all over. Texans are a bit more dramatic about it!

Well, I hope your garden does turn out great this year. And that you get rain for the roses so that you don't have to use city water! You sure have had the luck with finding great buys!

Here's a picture of 3 flowers off of a Perfume Tiger that I trimmed today. I figured, the cold's over, so let's trim! Plus it's a great excuse to have 3 beautiful flowers in my office at work.. brightens up my cheerless hellhole. Don't mind my fat hand.. it matches the rest of me. And these smell so nice, too! Hey, the pictures not bad considering it was taken with my phone, doncha think?

Yeah, some are like that! Sad

Hey, if ever you come across Lion's Fairytale check that one out. Mine got ripped out of the ground by a mini cell or some sort of weather occurance. I trimmed the roots and trimmed the top (it was in full bloom) and replanted. I couldn't just throw the blooms away so I brought them into the house. The whole vase 'o blooms lasted around eight days, which I thought was pretty good. Oh, and the shrub is still alive. Kind of looking a bit sorry for itself, but it is perking up.

This is such a fun thread to read. It's a great feeling to buy new roses.

Toni, how many total are you adding this year (so far)? I can't wait to see pics.

Val - according to my husband, too many. According to me, not half of what I want. I'll try to get a count this weekend, but it looks like I've already put in over 50 with 6 more on my driveway to shove into the ground, plus 13 on order (2 from John's Miniatures, 11 from Roses Unlimited).

I saw one of those Perfume Tiger's at Lowes today, never heard of it.
I keep track of all my roses (and all other plants) on my DG Journal, it's quite handy.

I have perfume tiger sue. when I have time ill snap a pic, it needs support to grow on , I had to put a tomato cage around mine. It sends out really pretty stiped blumes that shed fast but it repeats fast also. It also has long week stems..

I am finally catching up with some forum reading. I know this is an old post but that is quite the haul there. nice roses. I was just admiring my neighbors steirling silver.

I don't remember who it was that posted about Home Depot's Garden Club, but I joined and was sent the two-for-one rose coupon.Thank you! Today was the last day so I picked up two roses (the selection was really poor). I am unfamiliar with one of them: Black Bacarra. Some sites I looked at called it easy others claimed it was choosey about the soil and temperature. Has anyone grown this rose?

I have Black Baccara. It's a florists rose, so it's at least semi-picky about everything.

Alas, in that case, it will probably have a short life here.

With me as its caretaker, it would probably live even less long in a pot.It will just have to take its chances with the others; at least it will get watered, and our soil is good.
