I don't think we need to worry about covid 19 this summer; it should be burnt out by then. It's already dying out in China and Korea. Rolling my eyes.

It's not dying in S.Korea, still have about 100+ new cases every day. It's plateauing though. China has fewer new cases everyday which is very comforting to see that the crest is over.
Now that I'm not traveling for a long time, and we're hunkering down, I think it's appropriate that I use some of the Patriots seeds I got last year for 99c.
I sowed large organic cherry tomato, Chocolate cherry, Celebrity, Early Girl, Early Boy, and Better Boy. I was too lazy to label them. Hopefully I get something in early June.

Well, obviously we watch different news shows. The one I saw said it was dying out in both countries. Just shows how much misinformation is going around about this virus.

Gardenfish, I check this one daily because I had to track which country is infected. I saw Spain was in trouble a few weeks ago and cancelled hotels in that part. But a month before that, Spain had maintained nearly 2 cases at most. It goes to see how things can be out of control very quickly with this virus.

That's right, you were planning on going abroad on vacation, weren't you? Yes, things get out of control very quickly. We went from stocked shelves last Wednesday to empty stores yesterday. Of course, all the reporting about shortages just makes it worse. People that wouldn't naturally stock up rush to the stores and over buy. Did anyone see the 4 ct roll package of Charming toilet paper on E Bay with an auction price of $30,100.00? D'Oh!

I don't know how to buy or sell on eBay, that saves me money period. But looking at the bright side of life, my cancellation of my European trip saved me lots of money. Now I can buy more toilet papers.

Actually I saw some at Costco recently, I was like 5-10 minutes too late. So I got some paper towels instead, at least they are not as nice, but nicer than the catalogs. Next week I will try again but a bit earlier too. But when I was at Albertsons I saw them with smaller quantities, I prefer the big package like the one from Costco. But that was before Friday when the President announced the emergency.

We have a system here, a kind of a Underground Railroad. When someone finds tp, they call/text all their friends. Amazing the weird places that actually stock toilet paper that you never thought of before. Lowe's? Ace hardware? You bet they have it, or had it. Makes me wonder if people will start snitching it from public restrooms.

They have it at Home Depot when I was there last, this is when I found nothing atCostco including water and such. But the price was expensive like the same price for 1/3 of the number of rolls.

Hubby probably doesn't do the grocery shopping. I went today, knowing most stores are opening late so they can stock. My Stater Bros is the opposite...opened an hour early, checkers were yawning and red eyed because they had been there since 4AM. I figured produce was a safe bet, and was mostly right, but no Potatoes, few onions, no regular bananas( some "organic") , frozen veggies were scarce, Frozen meals were plentiful, select juice drinks , some packaged meat, no fresh meat, No pasta of any kind, Refrigerated section looked fair as I passed through, but bread/ tortillas bad. Canned vegies iffy, and I forgot I needed corn (either frozen(no chance) or canned, Sighing! forgot to look.) Looked for a carnecaria on the way home but all had lines waiting outside. I have the makings for Chili Verde but need tortillas .We have lots of options here, but I hope things settle enough that we don't have to go into wartime mode. I don't have the space or sun for a full garden.

I think timing is going to be the best solution. They will work out a system, and we will have to learn it.

Carol, I don't know if you like the 99 Cent Stores here but if you do they have no shortage of produce and tons of bananas. I was there today. That's how I found the four boxes of Kleenex.

When the toilet paper ran out here, people were buying Kleenex instead. Almost all the stuff that was out is being restocked. The exceptions are bleach, hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes. I've got that at home; no need to buy them. Produce is full in all the stores. I was able to buy lettuce, bananas and even some good looking Brussels sprouts yesterday. After my son and I get home, the first thing we do is wash our hands thoroughly, then I use the wipes to wipe down doorknobs and things like that. The hardest thing to do is to stop touching our faces.

People have cleaned out just about every last thing here. Mostly what's left are foods that won't last more than a week on the shelves. Gotta love how people freaking out about a food shortage created one in their blind panic buying.

I read an interesting view on people buying up toilet paper (or other items). The writer was basically stating that buying the TP/other-item is actually a benefit to many people. It isn't that they have "prepared" but that they *think* they have prepared. A person hears that there is a shortage of TP so instantly they feel that they need to stock up on some. When they have acquired the TP or other items they feel that they have accomplished something and that they are more in control of their situation. This helps to reduce their stress/worry level. It was an interesting point of view.

Last summer a group I was part of made a trip to Uganda, east Africa. It changed my worldview dramatically. What I found out is that *we* are a spoiled and wasteful people. We may think we're having a hard time but if the people/families in Uganda (and other third world countries) can make it and actually have joy in their lives, then we can, too. There may be a rough stretch of road ahead but it won't last forever and that rough road will be in the rear-view mirror.
