Lillium, Casa Rosa

This is an irresistible plant for the trumpet lily admirers out there. Not only is it easily cared for, but looks great in the garden and its fragrance is even better. Very hardy and worthwhile for me.

I've grown this lily for a long time. It has performed well in several garden locations including sandy loam in full sun, as well as light shade. Like any perennial it does best if kept watered during peak bloom, and mulch is beneficial. But, never plant where drainage is poor. It will kill them. The big plus for me is that it goes through some of the worst possible winter weather without harm. It has withstood -21F over several years, the most recent being -24F on Jan. 16, 2009!

I can't remember where I bought the bulbs. I'm thinking White's Flower Farm or possibly The Lily Garden. I do not see them listed at either place, as they are likely updating their web sites for spring 2020. Some pictures:

Just lovely Leon! Really like the combination with the flower behind, picks up the darker center of the lilies. Thank you for sharing your beautiful photos and for the growing tips. Some lilies do well for me, others - like your gorgeous Casa Blanca - not so much. I will definitely take your advise on the next batch. Smiling

Fine job with the banner and the follow-up, Leon. We always get the white (they travel from church to garden). I'm going to investigate getting some pink, too. Very pretty; and it's especially nice they are so hardy.

These cheerful trumpet lilies are certainly heralding their arrival visually, and no doubt with their bouquet, and now have captured the NGA banner audience. Excellent presentation, as is your manner.

We are rapidly approaching my favorite holiday, Christmas. How you celebrate or not is likely different in each family. No matter how or when, may I take this opportunity to wish each of you a wonderful day filled with happiness and blessings! I have noted during the past two months that one of our banner members (Marilyn) has been quietly absent from this forum. I have sent an E-mail to the Garden.org staff asking for any information, but realize they might not be at liberty to respond because of privacy concerns. So @Marilyn if you are reading this please know you are missed along with your beautiful banners. You will continue to be in our thoughts and best wishes. Crossing Fingers!

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Evelyn,
The banner was posted Dec. 19; But could have been authored as much as six months ago or longer. Banners are not posted the day they are submitted; that is done by admin when appropriate. I have some in queue that have been there for awhile; but admin chooses the dates for posting.

Also the author of the banner usually responds to comments & Acorn 's. Marilyn has not. Thanks for pointing this out.

I haven't been on the computer, since Oct. when my husband got kidney disease and kidney cancer. The doctors have told us that it's a treatable and curable cancer.

It has taken a lot of my time and I most likely won't be on the computer on a regular basis, as I was before.

Thank you for thinking about me. Group hug
