Yeah, right? nodding That's why it's so funny...probably another season of too little, too late.

Yum!
Will you get lots of berries, do you think? Or will critters get most of them? We grow strawberries here, but only ever get a handful.

Birds were pecking at any red so they ruined quite a few but they're loaded. I covered and we got some shiny whirlygigs to scare them (hopefully). We have two 50' rows, one was new in the fall so I think we'll get all we want to eat this year! Hoping to freeze some. So tempted to sell at market but really want them for ourselves!

This fall we'll put in another row because we're in a three year rotation. Then every year after, the oldest row will get tilled under and a new row put out.

I just have to laugh at my luck with peas, Rita. But I'm stubborn, so I'll probably keep right on trying. I did manage to get a couple of meals worth of fall peas last year however, so I am making some sort of progress. Big Grin

My strawberries are ground covers for my lilies, so they're impossible to cover. Your rotation plan sounds great, Arlene. Thumbs up

I just got started potting up seedlings. I've done my 20 or so tomatoes, but I'll probably only plant out half of those. I think there's five, maybe six varieties. Beets, carrots, chard and radishes are sprouting now, too. Yay!
Time to plant some more stuff!

I just don't understand why you have such bad luck with peas. I do so well with peas and since I discovered growing peas in pots doing even better. But peas always grew well here.

In the springtime our soil doesn't warm as fast as the high heat hits, so growing cool season crops is always tough. I've yet to find snow or sugar snap peas at any of our farmer's markets. Pea sprouts, yes, but not the pods.

Chelle, use my peas in pots method then presprout your seeds. I am sure you would get excellent results using that method.

Rita - your tomatoes are going to be so yummy and thank you for all the pics - WOW on your peas Hurray!

Arlene - YUM on the strawberries - they are at the fruit stands here now. Love strawberries.

Chelle - After looking at Rita's photo's maybe peas in a pot is a good idea for you since your soil is so cold.

I hope to get out in the garden today. It was still pretty muddy from the rain we had gotten earlier.

Today is a really lovely day here and I am starting lots of seeds.

For cucumbers I just planted Suryo Long, Straight Eight and Camilla.

For melons I planted Avara, Sakata and Green Machine.

Then I also planted Nevada Lettuce (yes I know should have done it earlier) and Zen Greens. Those were direct sown. The Cuks and the melons I start in recycled veggie containers. I keep them inside cause its warmer so they sprout quickly. Then when they come up I put them outside during the day and bring in at night for afew days until I am ready to plant them outside.

I still have my yard long bean seeds to start but they like it warm so I am waiting on them.

Rita, you are so busy! We are headed toward possible SNOW tomorrow - so I'm not "All In" with gardening yet, but surely it can't stay winter much longer. I'm so looking forward to planting like it was really spring. Smiling

I like to fuss around in the garden and this year have so much done and planned for my veggie garden.

My neighbor stopped by and was wondering what I was doing. Told her (showed her) I was filling up these big pots because I am going to plant my zuchini there.
