Oh Mary Ann, I'll bet you were within 2 miles from me if you took the interstate 90! You could have stopped in and piced up a few rhizomes to take back with you. I did have a lady stop by and get about 20 different ones. You could have taken a horse or two as well, lol.

What a shame Tom -- I had no idea you were so close. Yes -- I was on I-90, and had plenty of time -- was traveling by myself and had no itinerary. I would have loved to meet you in person, and see your horses and your Iris beds. A lost opportunity, for sure. Sad

Well, Mary Ann, the next time you go to visit your sister, you will have to stop by.

It WAS good traveling weather, Vicki -- both up and back. There were heavy clouds when I left Minneapolis on Thursday morning, but the further south I got -- the more they cleared. Pretty soon I was in sunshine, and it followed me all the way to Kentucky on Friday. I don't like driving in the rain, so good driving weather is a definite gift!

It's a date, Tom! The next time I head north to visit my sister, I'll make time to stop and see you. Thanks for the invite! Wouldn't it be fun if it was during bloom season? The only problem with that is that I'd have to leave mine behind. I did that last year -- went to Minnesota in May -- and missed most of my Irises blooming. Don't think I'll do that again. Guess I'll have to settle for seeing pictures of yours in bloom!! nodding

Got my *sucker bait* Irises planted last night. Oh -- I hope I hope I hope that they are what they're supposed to be!!

Anyone who has gone to the trouble to clean, trim, and mark the irises, and has photos, I'm betting also has their beds organized enough that everything they sell is correctly named. Betcha. Thumbs up

I agree with Cindy, most likely they'll be what they should be. One of my friends had an iris sale at her house this weekend. She had two shoppers all weekend. She had gone to so much trouble marking and having pictures with each container of rhizomes. I just put an ad on Craigs list and have people make an appointment, and we dig them fresh when they arrive. One shopper came from Kansas City, MO. Some others from 100 to 150 miles one way. I found homes for a lot of iris, but still have many that I dug from one garden that I completely replanted. I am really enjoying this cooler weather, it's so nice to be able to go into the beds and work and not be totally depleated by heat. One of those hot days, I got down on my knees to do some weeding, and the ground was so hot that it actually hurt my knees! I don't know how the plants could stand it.
