Bird Babies

Birds are abundant here in spring. We try to give them lots of shrubs & trees for natural habitat. They allow pictures if not disturbed in their nesting places. Photos require stealth and silence; and a good zoom feature is helpful too.

Most of the babies in this collage are Chipping Sparrows. They are found practically in every part of North America. There is also a nest of baby robins at far right. These birds like others are vulnerable to severe storms and predators during nesting and fledging. I might add they are very tiny in size at hatching; almost bean-size. Some of the photos used for the banner are as follows.

Nice pics for a banner (of things to look forward to)...
In spring of 2018 I had a close encounter with a young robin. I was filling a watering can at the outside spigot, as I raised up, Ka-Bam, right in the side of my head...and there, right at my feet was the culprit, a young Robin. Apparently one of it's first (unsuccessful) flights...fortunately I had my camera in back pocket and took this pic:

I don't know who was most surprised, me or the Robin.

Nothing that's been done can ever be changed.

I know the feeling of surprise. I have seen the parents protecting babies which jump out of the nest too soon. Also they feed them and can be very protective when they are out on the ground.
