I think this photo is confusing...it appears the flowers are Red Salvia not Red Porterweed.

You are so right Lila! It is a Salvia! It is Salvia darcyi!

Marilyn, I am by no means an expert but I am growing Red Porterweed for the first time this year & that's why it didn't match my newly flowering plants!
I love salvias & have a ton of Blue Black, 'Lady in Red', & Victoria Blue as well as several colors of Salvia greggi!

I have a friend at another forum that needs a plant ID...where is the best place to post of picture??? I've only been on this site about a week!!!
I thought it might be Blue Lobelia but it isn't & it is blooming now so it's not Rocky Mountain Penstemon!
