Dave, if you look at the x Petchoa in the DB there are a few oddities. http://garden.org/plants/searc...
1. X Petchoa 'Dancalipet': the hyperlinked geus is X Petchoa.
2*. For all others (SuperCal®'s) the hyperlinked geus is X. XPetchoa SuperCal® Neon Rose
3. In all cases the x was entered as lower case but was changed to uppercase.

*Genus X: http://garden.org/plants/brows...
Lists plants with either an accepted name or synonym beginning with x.
ex. Pardancanda (Iris x norrisii), syn. x Iris norrisii. Species X Iris (Iris x norrisii)

Yes, when I created our system I didn't anticipate that we would have genus names with spaces in them! I was certain that all genera were one word. So, these "X " genera will need me to fix the system in quite a few places.

Given that Joannabanana is the DB moderator for both Petunia and Calibrachoa doesn't that make her the Petchoa moderator by default? Green Grin!

Petchoa's could have the very same parent plant data default selection as the calibrachoas, excluding the common name. Sure, for moderating.

Common names for Petchoa: Calitunia

There were actually called Calitunia before Petchoa, but since Danzinger had registered the Trade Name of Calitunia for a series, the powers decided to name them x Petchoa

Series out there are: Calitunia by Danzinger and Super Cal by Sakata,

I am working on a ATP Gardening Idea article on Petchoas and was going to add info for each variety in the ATP database. In the database, can we have Growth Habit, Vigor and Daylight neutral added to the datasheet. Same as what is in Calibrachoa & Petunias

The situation here with the X Petchoas is that we don't have a parent plant setup for them and therefore it's not possible to add special fields for just that genus.

Now we could do that, and maybe we should, but there are only 14 cultivars listed for that genus. Is it worth doing it for such a small group of plants?

it is a very new genus and yes currently there are only 14 cultivars. I guess I will just make comments for the individual varieties regarding growth habit, vigor and early bloom. Thumbs up

That'll work for now and remember that I am indeed willing to set this up for them if we all agree that it's worth it.
