They're also carrying Koko Loko for the 2012 year, too. Should have waited.. maybe I'll get another copy of it. Here's a copy of their PDF catalog for the drool-worthy entertainment. *sigh* http://www.weeksroses.com/pdf/...

Isn't it amazing!!! I love it. But if Weeks is now owned by Gardens Alive, I might not want to order the rose online.

Thank goodness we have a local nursery that buys Weeks roses. Maybe I'll be able to get that one next year. I could plant that one by Forty-Niner and Rosie O'Donnell.
Toni how did you get on their email list?

Ok, found the link to sign up and also found the catalog.
That's a good name for the rose!

I'll have to sign up for the catalog. I like to wait to add new roses until I see how they fare in other northern gardens. Thanks, skiekitty!

I also like to see pictures from actual gardens. I wonder if this rose is true to color? I think Enchanted Evening looks even prettier in actual photos than in the catalogs, but I am partial to russet roses. I also love your pictures of KocoLoco. I'll have to find room fro that one eventually.

GQ - I don't wait until I found out how it does in northern gardens.. if I did that, I'd be waiting a LONG LONG time! I don't know where you are or what zone you are, but my Enchanted Evening didn't survive this past winter. I think it was in a bad spot, so I'm going to get another one & put it in a different spot for next year (2012). Koko Loko is blooming like crazy because we've gotten over 4" of rain in the past week.. rain water is always SOOOOOOOOOO much better than water from a hose! That, plus I've been.. er.. generous (LOL) with the MiracleGro this year (yes yes, I know a lot of people don't like MiracleGro, but my water table is about 500 feet down, so I doubt it's going to make it that far down). I have to deadhead this weekend the back yard.. everyone I deadheaded in the front has been growing like gangbusters with all this rain! If I can get Koko Loko to survive my winter this year, next year I'm getting Green Romantica. Yes, it's a zone 7 rose and I'm zone 5/4.. but lots and lots of my roses are zone 7 w/no problems. It's all about the mulch!

Looking at that Ketchup & Mustard rose (an awful name in my opinion!), I bet that's the one I photographed a couple of years ago in the test section of the city rose garden. It was a stunner!

Well the name is descriptive, but I think a rose as gorgeous as this one deserves a more dignified label.

More dignified than Rosie O'Donnell or Ketchup and Mustard?
Whistling
Is there already a rose named Flamenco Skirts?
Or Stoplight?

Hot Princess, Tipsy Imperial Concubine.. these are dignified? Personally, I have been trying to get Tipsy for a few years now and I do have Hot Princess based 100% on the name alone. And I think Ketchup & Mustard is way more descriptive than Red Gold, which doesn't turn red at all!

I like the name "Ketchup and Mustard." It fits the rose exactly. Here's another rose with that type of name: Peanut Butter & Jelly. Isn't it luscious?

As for Tipsy Imperial Concubine, I think the best source for it might be Greenmantle, Toni.

http://www.greenmantlenursery....

Her roses are grown in 2-gallon containers and then shipped to you with the soil shaken off, so the shipping cost is very low, especially if you order more than one rose. The price isn't bad either: $18 for a 2-gallon rose. Most of the own-root nurseries are now charging more than that for a band rose. And she's a sweetie, extremely forthcoming with information and suggestions and very friendly on the telephone.

Thanks for posting your pictures, Sue. I trust the colors of your photographs. I LOVE "Peanut Butter and Jelly" - the rose. It is a much better name than 'chipmunk'. Yikes. The last thing I need is another rodent damaging my plants. Maybe they are trying to give roses more "accessible" names. The names are quirky but memorable.

I wonder what the Chinese name is for 'Tipsy Imperial Concubine'?

They should start naming them after boxers so people think they are knockouts. The stores around here seem to be stocking mainly red and bright pink knockouts. They could at least carry the full line of Radler's roses. At least people are buying some kind of roses.
