They are one of the better Mail order sources. When ever you have any problem with a plant they take care of it right away.

I've only ordered from them last Spring and this Spring and only perennials, so far.

I agree that Santa Rosa is good mail order source: fairly priced for small healthy plants. Shipping cost is excellent.

Trish, a question or two: Did the company know that you were going to review them in an article when you ordered? And did you write and tell them that you weren't happy with the condition of the CB rudbeckia, and that it didn't last long? I imagine they'd gladly replace the plant for you if you write them.

I sent that picture to Santa Rosa, questioning whether I had received the right plant last fall, since the grower's photo shows dark red blossoms while mine are more pink. I'm not unhappy with the first plant. It's big and healthy, blooming constantly all summer in this heat and drought with nothing more than an occasional drink of water. I love the plant, I simply wanted to ascertain that it was indeed the correct plant before adding to the database. Santa Rosa immediately sent me a free replacement plant anyway.

I don't think their customer service can be beat.

Santa Rosa uses a third party for their marketing. The agent that I worked with placed my order for fulfilment, and there was nothing on the order that identified it as for review. (This is my preference, since I want to get the most accurate assessment of the company.) The fulfilment greenhouse had no idea.

You are not the first person to mention their great customer service- I hear it is outstanding. It's not in my review because I didn't experience the customer service at all. I felt that Santa Rosa was at a bit of an unfair advantage with my order because it was into the second week of June, and it's really hard to get plants going that late here. Also, I just didn't feel right asking for replacements for something I didn't pay for in the first place.

I hope that those of you who have ordered will add your Recomendations.

Most (if not all...there was one I wasn't sure) of my reviews have been "blind". All but the smallest nurseries are set up so that the desk people (that I speak with) and those that physically pull the orders are very separate. My order goes through the system just like everyone else's, without special treatment. Otherwise there wouldn't be much of a point

I'm very late to this game, but I just wanted to throw in my $0.02USD in. Their customer service is AWESOME. I ordered a nice little list last year during their massive clearance and was responded to by an actual live human emailing me thanking me for my order. I could tell it wasn't a canned response. I ordered on a Friday night (what else do you do on a Friday night but look at plants?) and on Sunday saw some stuff I had missed the first time. So I sent a response back to the person who emailed me asking if I could order a few more things (basically, put in an order w/the plant name, code, price, number of plants, etc). Not only did I get a response first thing Monday morning, but they gave me one of the plants for free! (a white buddleia) I got the plants right away, they looked VERY nice (except for a delosperma, but those don't ship well & it was too soggy, that's why it was rotted, but it was a free plant, so I wasn't complaining 'cuz I didn't pay for it) and I planted them right away (this was in October). I did a walkabout a few days ago & I think everything survived my winter just fine (although we still have a dangerous month ahead.. April.. it can be 80 degs during the day & drop into the negatives at night!). Plus they have coupons, too! I have them on my recommendation list and really like them! I put in an order for them for this spring, too, when I saw they had a 35% off sale. One of the plants I ordered was sold out, but I got an email within like 15 minutes of me putting my order apologizing that it was out, would I like to add something else or just take that part of my order? And, again, not a canned response, but a live human (Jude) telling me this, then confirming what I asked for in replacement. VERY nice company.

Nice article. I have always had good service from Santa Rosa Gardens. They are a great source for Heuchera, Delosperma, Agastache, and Echinacea! They often have great sales too. I will certainly order more from them!
