I'm surprised you spotted that shrimp plant under your grasses!
Been raining/ drizzling off and on all day here. It was well timed, except for the trash truck. He caught the dumpsters during the worst downpour. We're still below average for the year, but it's early April, so there's a few weeks to catch up.

lol...the litle Cerinthe seedlings are right in the front of that border...I thought they were so cute...hadn't seen one flowering that young before...
Looks like we have at least a week of sun waiting out in front of us...it can go either way for me.....'thankful that Winter is gone' house cleaning or OMG, how can I get all this yard work done....?

Have a new PC hooked up and waiting in my room for me to deal with and get used to....don't like changes and would far rather clean or weed instead of learning new electronic stuff...we'll see....

This is the first Ceanothus that I've grown, dunno why I hadn't gotten to that in SoCal...I think that Zuzu said at one time that it's her fave. This one has been in the ground about 4 years, does get large, I suppose may be kept shorter, but there's one here in town that's maybe 3' above their 6' fence. I'm liking the color with the purple Dodoneas and the mix of some cistus in that border...also have a large clump of Libertia in there that has seeded and seeing that I like it coming up, weaving through the cistus, think I will spread more clumps in that border to blend in with the other stuff also...

Libertia...

These guys sure have been fun...and interesting...grown from seeds of the hybrid Echium 'Mr. Happy'...the ones grown in the front yard have been the expected pink...and, as we noticed last year, there were two different types of leaves, large leaves and narrow leaves...as, Strever said, "look like two different plants..."

The large leaves produced the flower stalks that shoot up higher than the roof, flowers on the narrow leaf stalks are about 4' tall.

These, pictured here, have Lavender colored flowers and the two types of leaves also...but they are in the back of the property that's not as protected and got hit with frost...totalled the large leaves, didn't faze the narrow leaves.....so the narrow leaf stalks got the same 4' flower stalks and the large leaf stalks are bare.....today while weeding in there, I see that the bare, large leaf stalks are putting out new leaves...will they now flower...a bit later...and will they get as tall?

In any case, they are fun and the bees are happy.....

My POM's always had narrower leaves than that, drier, more compact on the whole, but that was in SoCal and they really weren't watered much at all..lol..infact, I don't remember ever watering them at all....I really miss them.....
Echiums, Cistus, Salvias...my absolute favorites.

It looks more like the structure of E. pininina or Tower of Jewels of one sort or another.....the ones that I see in the neighborhood look like that...and maybe the ones at Salmon Harbor?

Do you happen to know Terry Allaway? She's a FB friend of mine....'Smith River Farm'.....? She posted a pic the other day of an Echium webbii at her place...I hadn't heard of that one...the same day someone posted it somewhere else that Rebecca saw it and sent me a pic....Looked it up and Annie has it...bex liked it also, so hoping she might order some for Worms....
